Gospel, Māori and Pentecost 5th - 6th December, 2014
This year is the bicentennial of the first recorded sermon preached in New Zealand by Samuel Marsden on Christmas day 1814. Marsden came from Parramatta on the upper reaches of the Sydney harbour and his vision was to bring the gospel to the Māori people of New Zealand. Today 200 years later, Alphacrucis has campuses in both Parramatta and Auckland. It is appropriate to look back and reflect on 200 years of the gospel, Māori and mission in New Zealand, and the connection with the church in Australia. As a Pentecostal college we are in a unique position to reflect on the experience and work of the Holy Spirit among the Māori people as the gospel embraced this new context.
