END OF SCHOOL YEAR REPORT 2026

Building What Works. Expanding What’s Possible.

This school year felt different.

Not simply because Augustine Literacy Project served more students than ever before, but because we began to clearly see and measure what this organization can become.

That confidence is supported by research conducted in partnership with UNC Charlotte’s Center for Educational Measurement and Evaluation, reinforcing what we have long believed: when students receive consistent, structured literacy support, they make meaningful gains.

Over the past several years, ALP has been building toward something larger than a tutoring program: a scalable system that helps schools deliver literacy support to more students with consistency and purpose. This year, that impact expanded across Charlotte and into new communities throughout North Carolina.

We saw growth in our Super Sites, strengthened small-group instruction through ALP Pro, and deepened our use of technology and data to support instruction. At the same time, our one-on-one volunteer tutoring program remained at the heart of our work, with hundreds of volunteers showing up each week to build relationships and provide consistency for students.

Together, this work demonstrates what is possible when caring adults are equipped with the right systems and support.

We are more confident than ever in our ability to reach more students with proven results. The need remains great, and so does the opportunity.

With gratitude and purpose,

Proven Results. Measurable Impact.

What I appreciate about ALP is that they are not tied to a single delivery model. They have built a flexible system that allows schools to access literacy support in ways that fit their unique needs while reaching more students.

Traditional: Consistent, In-Person Support

One-on-one tutoring with a trained volunteer, twice each week during the school day.

Consistent relationships, repeated over time, change reading trajectories.

We know what we are doing is hard work, but what others don’t see is that it is also heart work.

“ ALP came in and asked, 'What can we do to support you, your kids, your school, your teachers?' And that's exactly what they did. Reading is one of the clearest paths to upward mobility, and what we're building with ALP is going to set our kids up for success. That's really awesome.
