Welcome to the Almería Focus Magazine and useful A-Z Directory for the Levante area, with more than 2000 entries and contact numbers! View it online at issuu.com/almeriafocus. The Focus is free every month and distributed from Mojácar to San Juan de los Terreros on the coast and inland as far as Albox and Huércal-Overa.
The copy deadline for the June issue is May 18th.

OnceMay is out of the way, beach bars and restaurants are getting ready for the summer season. In Mojácar there has been major work underway at practically every beach bar and they should all be open soon.
Elections for a new Junta de Andalucía parliament are on Sunday, May 17th. At present, the ‘PP’ party (roughly a conservative party) has had a good majority for the last four years. They are hoping the same thing will happen this time, and if not, it could affect what happens in our region. Although there shouldn’t be any favouritism, the Almería ‘Diputación’ (County council) have a good ‘PP’ majority and also some municipalities including Mojácar. In Albox, the ‘PP’ mayor states that they have received an unprecedented 30 million euros of grants in the last four years. Projects with funding have probably been approved more readily in these places.
“Virtual” health cards for all people in the public health system can now be downloaded to smartphones for use at farmacias, health centres and hospitals, a parent can download them for children or a person who regularly goes to a farmacia for medication for a dependent person. A comprehensive WiFi facility is now in place at hospitals so that patients and relatives can communicate with each other. We comment on these in our “In the News” section.
Another 10 million euros has been allocated so that young people in our province below the age of 41 can apply to buy a property with the 20% deposit coming from the Junta de Andalucía and 80% of the mortgage through participating banks. There are some conditions but they are not very complicated. Also, the conditions for a self-employed person in Andalucía to buy, lease or rent a non-electric vehicle has been spelt out in more detail with a much more simplified and quicker system for obtaining the grant. We explain how both these work in an article.
The sealing of the two landfill sites in Albox and Líjar has now been finished after work taking 13 months. 40,600 plants have been incorporated using ones typical of the native vegetation of the region. The work to build breakwaters to protect the beaches at Vera Playa from flooding has finally been authorised, but the timescale for the construction has not yet been given. We expand on both of these in our “In the News” section.
Concerts and cultural activities will soon take place at outdoor facilities such as bullrings as summer starts, and we comment on current events in our “What’s On” section.

During May, usually on a Saturday or Sunday, many Roman Catholic children, typically aged 8 to 12, have their “first communion” in church. Girls are dressed in white and sometimes boys wear sailor-suits. It is normal that there is a meal afterwards and it will be readily apparent if your favourite restaurant is hosting this event. Spanish Mother’s Day is always the first Sunday in May, so this year it is on May 3rd. Friday, May 15th is an important fiesta day in Madrid that is “San Isidro” day. Legend has it that he was a farmer who greatly helped poor people in Madrid in 1172. There are celebrations in other places when decorated farm vehicles go into the countryside for a picnic, known as a “Romeria” and there is always one in Mojácar. There are no major fiesta dates in June or July, but the “Moors & Christians” event in Mojácar is from Thursday, June 11th until Sunday, June 14th.

Pedro Sánchez, Spain’s Prime Minister, quickly introduced a raft of measures designed to protect consumers and companies from suffering because of the energy crisis, with a cost of 5 billion euros. He stated that this was entirely because of Trump’s illegal war with Iran but Spain would emerge “stronger than ever.” The immediate measures are in force until June 30th when there will be a review, and the plan affects 20 million households and 3 million companies. The 21% IVA (VAT) on petrol, diesel, heating oil, electricity, natural gas, pellets and firewood was reduced to 10% and the price of butane and propane cylinders is frozen. The transport and agricultural sectors were given a 20 céntimos reduction per litre in fuel costs and a subsidy for the purchase of fertilisers to keep food costs down. A survey of the cost of ‘95’ petrol, at the end of the first week in April found that the cost in Spain was still slightly higher than before the war, but out of the 27 EU states Spain was fifth from the bottom with an average price of 1 euro 54 céntimos per litre. In the Low Countries and Demark, with no state reductions, it was 2 euros 33 céntimos, and the same wide swing applied to diesel prices. In our electricity bills, there is an indirect tax of 5.11% paid by the consumer, and then paid by the electricity companies to the Treasury, and this has been reduced to 0.5%. Also, there is a 7% generation tax on the value of electricity production paid by the companies that has an effect on our bills, and it has been suspended. In total, this amounts to a 60% reduction in tax. Since January 2024 the cost of electricity on the ‘PVPC’ regulated tariff takes into account the “forward buying” of electricity in one month, three months and 12 months which cushions daily fluctuations. People on this tariff who are suffering hardship or because they are vulnerable, can now obtain a 42.5% reduction in their bills (up from 35%) and 57.5% if these are severe cases (up from 50%), that will apply until December 31st. The supply companies are prohibited from cutting off the supply if these people get into debt and the same thing applies to water bills. We mentioned last month that the
15% reduction in income tax of up to 3,000 euros for the purchase of an electric or hybrid vehicle had not been approved this year. Now, it has been reinstated to encourage purchases, and the subsidy for charging points has come back. Pedro Sánchez states that long term, there will be “massive subsidies” for installing solar panels, batteries and heat pumps and a consequent 50% reduction in ‘IBI’ (rates) from municipalities. Companies will be able to obtain a subsidy for installing low energy air conditioning and for “auto consumption” solar installations that provide all the electricity they need. Public companies receiving financial aid are prohibited from dismissing employees for reasons related to the war or energy crisis.
Towards the end of March, the Andalucía Minister of Health, Antonio Sanz, demonstrated the implementation of the first virtual health card in the country, which is now operational for all people registered in the public health system and can be installed on smartphones. Access is made through a high-security dynamic QR code, which will allow identification both in health centres, hospitals and pharmacies. Parents will be able to carry their children’s cards on their smartphone and this will apply to people who regularly go to pharmacies to get medication for elderly persons. Sanz has portrayed the virtual card as being a simplification of administration and the use of new technologies in public services. “This is a pioneering project in Spain. We are once again at the forefront of technology and health.” The card will be available through two applications: Salud Andalucía and Carpeta Ciudadana, but for people without smartphones the existing plastic card will still be valid and functional.
’Hacienda’
Income tax returns known as ‘La Renta’, for the calendar year 2025 have to be completed by June 30th. The ‘Hacienda’ tax department expect 420,000 tax returns from people living in our province that will amount to 295,000,000 euros, but after exemptions for a variety of reasons,

they expect to give back 161 million euros. Selfemployed people pay a set percentage every quarter on income less expenses and in their tax return there is an allowance for children, private pensions and some others. People who bought an all-electric or hybrid vehicle in 2025 are entitled to a 15% reduction in tax on a maximum of 3,000 euros. Local government pensions from the UK, pensions from teaching, the fire service, police and other occupations have to be declared but they are exempt from tax. This year, coming from the Junta de Andalucía, there are allowances of up to 100 euros for membership of a gymnasium, acquiring pets and the purchase of food for people suffering from Celiac disease. There is a 15% allowance off rental payments up to 1,200 euros and up to 1,500 euros for people who are incapacitated, and 6% of the purchase price of a property for young people. Apart from an age allowance, every person (including pensioners) who has to make a declaration, there is a straight 2,000 euros allowance. It may be advantageous to combine the tax returns of a couple with a joint declaration, depending on their situation. ‘Gestors’ who deal with legal matters and ‘Asesores’ (accountants) will submit the tax return for you and ensure that all your allowances are taken into account. We list such people under ‘Accountants’ and ‘Legal Services’ in our directory section.
In stark contrast to various EU countries who are studying where unwanted immigrants can be sent to, and the US with an aggressive deportation scheme, Spain has an entirely different approach. On April 14th parliament approved the “extraordinary regularising of immigrants” who live here but are not legal, and it became law the next day. To qualify to become legal, these people must have lived here for a minimum of five months prior to January 1st and have no criminal convictions in the last five years. Government estimates are 500,000 people, but it may be as many as 750,000. Pedro Sánchez, the Prime Minister, considers that far from being a problem, regularising immigrants is a success story because it leads to more growth,
more secure employment, more money paid into the Social Security system, and added income tax. It will also take people out of the “black economy” and the income will help finance health care, far above the cost to the health authorities because of their low age group. The Moroccan Consulate in Almería city opened up on Saturday, April 11th, and Sunday, April 12th, and in the first five days an estimated 3,500 joined the long queues who wanted the certificate that they had no criminal convictions. Consulate officials stated that the predominant age group was young people and this is exactly the response that the government is hoping to achieve. Some came a long way to join the queue as there are only Moroccan consulates in Almería, Alicante, Valencia, Madrid and Murcia, and consulates for other countries also experiencing a similar situation. On Friday, April 17th, the Minister for Immigration announced that in first 24hrs when application could be submitted via the internet there were 13,500 along with 19,600 requests for an appointment in person from Monday, April 20th. To take the pressure off the “foreigners offices”, that are now opening from 4pm-7pm by appointment, applications can be submitted at 60 Social Security offices and 370 post offices in large cities. The present end date for making the applications to become legal is June 30th, but the government has stated that they will review this at the end of May.
Almería province and all the other provinces in Andalucía make up one of 12 “autonomous communities” in Spain, and it is run by the Junta de Andalucía, with its own parliament, courts, health service, and education department. It receives 50% of income tax collected in Andalucía. National, regional and municipality governments have a four-year term when new elections have to be held. Until 2018, the ‘PSOE’ party (roughly a labour party) had run the Junta for 36 years but they couldn’t obtain a majority so the ‘PP’ (roughly a conservative party) and another party formed a coalition with Juanma Moreno as President. In the 2022 elections, the ‘PP’ party rocketed into power

with a majority of 58 MPs out of 109. Juanma Moreno has chosen Sunday, May 17th as election day. Electioneering takes place from Friday, May 1st until Friday, May 15th and a new government should be in place by the end of June. Juanma Moreno is considered to be a good President along with his ministers and has introduced various incentive schemes for vehicles and firsttime buyers that we explain in an article, so hopes to obtain a similar majority again. Pedro Sánchez, Spain’s Prime Minister, heads the ‘PSOE’ and the person who is going to stand for the ‘PSOE’ against Juanma Moreno has led to a central government crisis. María Jesús Montero was Deputy Prime Minister, absolutely Pedro Sanchez’s right hand “man” for eight years, and is the Hacienda (tax office) Minister. She has been chosen because she was born in Seville and was a leading figure in the Andalucía parliament for several years when the ‘PSOE’ were in power. She resigned from central government, but her replacement led to an unwanted major government reshuffle. In early April it was announced that the ‘Izquierda Unida’, ‘Podemos’ and ‘Sumar’ left wing political parties, will join forces with a coalition entitled “Por Andalucía”. The pact was formed in the final hours before the legal deadline to register coalitions expired so there are now three main parties along with ‘Vox’, a right-wing party. In the meantime, the present Junta de Andalucía continues as a “caretaker government” but is not allowed to introduce or pass major legislation. Neither Juanma Moreno nor his minsters can inaugurate new projects, but he came to Almería on the morning of Monday, March 23rd to open a major 10 million euros phase in the “Port and city” plans to link them together, just a few hours before he announced the election! Only Spanish nationals can vote in regional and national elections.
Political parties are always very shy of admitting how much money they spend on electioneering, but the limit for the May 17th elections in Andalucía has gone up substantially. Each party (assuming they have the money) can spend up to 4.3 million
euros that they have to account for. This has gone up because there was no rise in the limit for the 2022 elections and this year it takes into account the rise in the Consumer Price Index from March 2022 until February this year. Also, the increase in the population has been taken into account and is based on the total inhabitants on the ‘padrón’ (the official number of people in each municipality) as of January 1st. The total amount a party can spend differs in every province and for our province it is 389,000 euros compared to 994,000 euros in Seville. Following the elections, there is 25,700 euros paid to the political parties for each of the 109 MPs elected. As regards the number of votes cast for each party, this year they will be given 95 céntimos per vote, providing the party has at least one MP, and this money comes out of regional funds
Apart from oil, natural gas has also risen in price since the war with Iran. On January 1st the cost in the Dutch TTF reference index was 28 euros per MWh. After a month of conflict in the Middle East, it went up 68 euros but did come down slightly on April 8th after the Iran ceasefire was announced. Spain has decided to move closer to Algeria, one of our major suppliers who provided 34.5% of our gas requirement in 2025, with a double objective. The first one is to make imports cheaper and secondly, to lose the dependence that has been created with the US, in view of the current poor diplomatic relations where 30.5% of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) came from in 2025. As Spain increases the power requirement from renewable energy, the amount of LPG needed from the US can be reduced even more. Natural gas is much cheaper than LPG that comes in tankers from Algeria as well as from the US but it is cheaper from Algeria. The ‘Medgaz’ 210km natural gas pipeline comes from Algeria under the sea to a plant close to Almería port which was opened in March 2011. It is a commercial undertaking managed by the Naturgy energy company in Spain, with a 49% stake, and the Sonatrach company in Algeria with 51%, that have long-term contracts. In early April, José Manuel Albares, the Spanish Minister for the Exterior, went to Algeria for talks with the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid

Tebboune, and other members of the government to increase the supply and discuss other joint projects. The natural gas sent to Almería started off at 8 billion cubic metres (bcm) per day that was then increased to 10 bcm, but with a capacity of 11 bcm. Total imports from Algeria in 2025, including LPG, totalled 28 bcm but the total gas available is 32 bcm, so it could be increased by more than 10%. On his return, José Manuel Albares stated that the increase had been agreed in principle and the details would follow, benefiting both Algeria and Spain. In early 2022, European countries agreed to ensure their gas storage facilities were filled to at least 90% of capacity by November, before the arrival of winter, to guarantee sufficient reserves to heat homes and power businesses, but by August, Spain had reached 100%. Following the harsh winter in several member states last year, storage facilities are currently down to 28.9% capacity on average, according to data from the Gas Infrastructure Europe platform, which lists significant differences between countries, and Spain is particularly good at 55.6%. The challenge in Europe now is to replenish storage facilities before next winter with a target of 80% if possible, including interchange between countries, and Spain can do this. We have the largest facilities in Europe for converting LPG gas to normal gas with six LPG terminals and three very large underground storage tanks. Currently, there are over 100 service stations in Spain where 975,000 vehicles can obtain LPG as opposed to fossil fuels. This used to be predominantly for taxi owners and fleet operators, but now it applies more and more to private vehicle owners. The ‘Autogas’ company that converts vehicles to LPG claims that after 10,000km this saves 30% of the cost.
Ending on May 31st at the Pueblo Indalo Apartment Hotel in Mojácar, a total of 1,500 medical students in six groups, will attend a course on palliative care which is the 30th time one has been held in Mojácar. It has been organised by The CUIPAL association (Comprehensive Palliative Care of Almeria) promoted by the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Granada and is entitled “Palliative care: preparing to die”. In an article, we comment on the
case of a 25-year-old woman who was successful in her application to be euthanised and part of the decision by the panel of experts was to address whether palliative care was an option. Last year, the students were given four possible topics for this course and palliative care was voted as being the most popular one. Noelia Fernández Urbano and José Carlos Fernández Ayala, a doctor and nurse, are coordinators of this course and state, “We will try to make them understand important concepts about death and suffering, so that they learn to be able to respond in situations of fear and anguish, to know what to say and what not to say. But, above all, we would like them to leave this course knowing that there are things that are not so much about doing as about being there, being present, listening. They have to detect the needs, be closer to situations of distress and accompany the families and be aware that, with small gestures, comfort can be given and suffering can be alleviated.”

Discovered in 1991 and open to the public since 2019, an application for the Geode gypsum crystal site in Pulpí to be a Unecso World Heritage site has been submitted, but it will compete with two other applications from Spain. Unesco requires the applications to pass an initial technical screening, during which their outstanding universal value and conservation conditions are analysed, before they can be formally presented. This is not a quick procedure and can take years to be approved.

The Ministry of Housing is intensifying the fight against short-term rentals, both tourist and seasonal, that do not meet the requirements set by law to be able to advertise on platforms such as Booking.com or Airbnb. In 2025 it led to the suspension of 89,400 listings, and in the first quarter of this year 20% of applicants to go onto the Central Register were not approved, bringing the total up to 100,200. The director of the Central Property Register points out that almost half of the applications denied come from noncompliance with communities of owners whose statutes expressly prohibit homes for tourist use. The registry has access to the statutes of all communities of owners and a new regulation is that if an owner wants to let their property to short term tourists, and that is not prohibited, 60% of the owners have to agree. There is a conflict between the Central Registry and ones compiled in autonomous communities who say that when they are told that some of them have to be taken off, the reasons are not given. In Andalucía in 2025 a total of 21,897 properties were either required to be taken off, or not granted a licence, which is the highest number in all of the autonomous communities. Some of them had a licence from the Junta de Andalucía, but the Central Registry rejected them. On May 20th the EU regulations on short-term rentals comes into force, which establishes that owners of properties intended for short-term rentals cannot be forced to have to make more than one application that is regional or national.
The Spanish Institute of Statistics compiles reports from information provided at the end of every year, analysing data from the ‘padrón’, the official list of inhabitants in every municipality. In 2025 there were 12 villages without a single birth because there were few men and women of the normal age to have children and these include Bédar. Another 13 villages had only a single birth, so when people die, the population is reduced. Almería city registered 1,662 births, El Ejido 956, Roquetas de Mar 940, Níjar 393, Adra 212, Vera 182 and Cuevas de Almanzora 176. Figures are different in places where there
is a predominantly older generation that includes retired Brits. In Arboleas there were 53 deaths and 14 births, in Cantoria 55 and 23 respectively, in Vélez Rubio 82 and 46 and in Mojácar 89 and 33. In El Ejido there were 443 deaths and in Roquetas de Mar 500, so the births were double the number of deaths. There are incentive schemes in areas of low population regarding buying houses for young people and employment, particularly for women.
Pet owners in Almería province are being reminded that there are special regulations. One of the key points of the law is the prohibition of regularly keeping dogs and cats on balconies, terraces, rooftops, basements, storage rooms, patios or vehicles. These spaces cannot become the main place where the animal lives, as it is considered a practice harmful to its welfare. In addition, the regulations also limit the time that pets can be left alone. In general terms, they cannot be unsupervised for more than three consecutive days, although in the case of dogs this limit is reduced to 24 hours. The objective is to avoid situations of abandonment, prolonged isolation or lack of attention. Fines for minor infractions range from 500 to 10,000 euros, serious infractions from 10,001 to 50,000 euros and very serious infractions from 50,001 to 200,000 euros. Leaving a dog on the balcony on a “one-off basis” does not automatically mean that the owner is liable to be given a large fine, but if this practice becomes habitual, or causes suffering to the animal, it can escalate to more serious levels.
In not an isolated incident, authorities in Bilbao stopped a twice-a-week bingo session in a retirement home, where about 100 people play bingo with a ticket price of 20 céntimos and a prize of about 20 euros. The organiser, aged 80, was told that if it did not stop there could be a fine of over 60,000 euros. The retirement home allocates 700 euros to buy cards for the whole year and they have recently modernised the game with the purchase of an electronic screen where the numbers that are sung over the public address system are illuminated. The gambling law establishes that any

gambling activity with money “Can only be carried out in expressly authorised establishments”, so bingos, raffles or bets on horseracing with economic prizes are prohibited in unauthorised premises. The same regulation however, excludes those games that are carried out purely as a “hobby” as long as there is no “lucrative exploitation with a monetary prize”. This means that playing dominoes, draughts or chess “for fun” only, are legal. The organiser complains that “Nobody comes here to earn money and many people have not completed a winning card for years. It is a shame to eliminate this activity because it allows many people who are left alone to form a group and have somewhere to get together to participate in this or other activities”. Joserra Landaluce, the president of ‘Nagusiak’, the association that brings together 130 of these centres in the Basque area, states that in the last General Assembly it was agreed that bingo will not be played with money until there are full guarantees that they will not be fined for doing so. “We are going to address the Ombudsman and the Directorate of Games and Shows of the Basque Government to clarify it. A change in the law is needed, as they
From April 22nd, the EU have introduced a mandatory pre-registration of pets including dogs, cats, and ferrets with a database for cross-border movements before travelling within the EU. The documentation must be completed before arrival at the destination, with the aim of facilitating and speeding up border controls. Until now, it was enough to meet certain health and documentary requirements. The new regulations do not eliminate the already existing obligations when travelling with pets in the EU that require identification by microchip (or a valid tattoo in old cases), a rabies vaccination in force or a mandatory primary rabies vaccination at least 21 days before the trip (when this is the first time the animal has received the rabies vaccine and needs that minimum period for protection to be effective). Additionally, there has to be veterinarian and owner data and a European pet passport that a vet in the EU can supply, but there is no fixed cost as it varies between
member states. A new regulation affects those who travel to countries free of ‘Echinococcus Multilocularis’, a tapeworm that can be transmitted from dogs to people and cause severe disease. These include Ireland, Malta and Finland, and the animal must have the tapeworm treatment registered in its passport between one and five days before arrival. If you come from outside the EU, including the UK, you have to have an Animal Health Certificate. It must include identification of the animal, vaccinations and treatments, a declaration of non-commercial travel and a signature of an official veterinarian that must be issued no more than 10 days prior to travel. It is valid for four months for onward travel within the EU or until the rabies vaccination expires, if earlier.
The 500-space parking area at the Torrecárdena hospital is now completely shut as work starts on the provision of a multi-storey car park. To help visitors and staff, a free shuttle bus is now operational that takes people to the hospital from the Torrecárdenas shopping centre. Some alternative parking is available at the shopping centre and the minibus can be used from 7.30am to 3.30pm with a bus every 10 minutes. There are however, various complaints that it should be available until the early evening for outpatients and staff. Doctors, nurses and other staff complain that when their shift ends at 3pm they then have to handover to the new staff, do any reports needed and then change into their normal clothes. They say that if the bus operated until 4pm this would be extremely useful. One employee has complained that after his shift, when he may be physically and mentally exhausted, a long walk to conventional transport is not something they want to have to do.
March this year has by no means been a normal month anywhere, but there was a sharp rise in people registering as being self-employed in Andalucía. In all, the increase was 3,004 people which is far higher than the overall increase nationally and 0.6% more than March 2025. It is the highest rise in the last five years and it took the

total number up to 594,000. The Junta de Andalucía Minister of Employment pointed out that this was 100 people every day. In our province there was an increase of 240 people, up 0.4%. Overall, there were 1,707 men and 1,297 women who became selfemployed and the number of people registered as unemployed in Andalucía went down by 8,800.
On March 1st, the Spanish IBEX 35 stock exchange was at a historic 18,496 points, up 3,000 points from November 2025, but it fell to 16,247 points on March 23rd. On Thursday, April 9th after the ceasefire in the IRAN war was announced, it went back up to 18,253 points. On Friday, April 17th when it was announced that the Strait of Hormuz was now open it quickly went up to 18,484 very close to the historic maximum. This is an indication that the economy in Spain is better than in many other EU states and is able to weather a storm.
Work has now been completed on the sealing of the Albox and Líjar landfill sites. In Albox, the work has taken just over thirteen months, on an area of 66,437m2 with a total cost of 2.7 million euros co-financed by the Junta de Andalucía and the European Regional Development Fund. In relation to the earthworks, the action has involved clearing 135,000m3 and an embankment of 102m3.The Minister of Sustainability and Environment of the Junta de Andalucía, Catalina García, recently visited the sites along with other dignitaries and stated, “In Albox, action has been taken on a space that presented discharges without technical control, with the aim of adapting it to the environmental and safety conditions required by state and European regulations. The work has focused on stabilising the land and reducing the risks associated with this type of facility, especially in relation to the possible impact on soil and water. 40,630 plants have been incorporated using ones typical of the native vegetation of the region”. In the case of Líjar, the intervention has been carried out over a period of six months, on an area of 13,100m2 with a total cost of 713,400 euros also with European co-financing. With regard to the Albox
site, an environmental monitoring and control plan will be developed with a minimum duration of 30 years, carried out by Albox City Council. The facilities at Líjar have been ceded to the council for surveillance, control and maintenance.

The Oasys Mini-Hollywood theme park in Tabernas has presented the “Master Plan 2026-2031”, a roadmap for its progressive transformation with a budget of 20 million euros to strengthen its positioning as a tourist, cultural and visitor participation destination. It attracts more than 250,000 visitors per year, surpassing the Alcazaba castle in Almería city (232,000) and the Cathedral in Murcia city (200,000). Two bronze busts were unveiled to the founder José María Rossell who died in 2024 age 79, and his lieutenant, Fernando Contreras, who was a carpenter. José María arrived in Garrucha from Catalonia in his 20s and set about creating his dream from the almost deserted film set. This year, there will be a seventh museum with guns and pistols used in the western era, a revamped stagecoach stop, and the incorporation of a statue of the lion sphinx used in the film “Road to Bethlehem” with Antonio Banderas. In 2027, an expansion of the zoological reserve is planned with the Giant’s Meadow for giraffes and antelopes and the opening of the Savannah cafeteria. In 2028, there will be a multi-adventure playground and the Western-themed Hollywood Hotel will open with 60 rooms, a swimming pool, stagecoach bunk beds and glazed areas next to the feline

reserve. José María was a founder of the Andalucía Senator hotel chain that now has 41 hotels, and his two sons are involved in the company. The plan continues in 2029 with a large souvenir shop and the Yucca Town Hall space for events with a capacity for up to 600 people. In 2030, there will be a Safari Lodge restaurant and an equestrian club, the Silver Creek Ranch. In 2031 the expansion of the park will have an area for motorhomes, a suspension bridge and a Mexican village with gastronomic experiences and entertainment.
Just after the virtual health cards were announced, Juanma Moreno, the President of Andalucía announced a new facility. This is the Vuela Wi-Fi network that has been extended to be available in every hospital. 18.5 million euros has been invested to install routers with WIFI6 technology, claimed to be the most advanced on the market. It allows access to streaming platforms, social networks, instant messaging and the possibility of making highquality video calls, even when there are thousands of users connected simultaneously to the network. It is already used in 10,500 public venues, health centres, schools, libraries, museums, centres for the elderly and judicial headquarters. He explained that “Being connected is proven to help you spend your days and hours in hospitals better, reduce isolation by sharing your concerns with those you feel closest to. It improves morale and is a positive factor in the recovery of patients. In addition, the new Wi-Fi coverage is equipped with a wide security shield and an advanced content filtering system that will block dangerous or inappropriate pages, encryption of all connections, as well as a continuous antivirus analysis with periodic controls to avoid security breaches”. In order to access the network, it is necessary to complete a registration process, something that more than 376,000 users have already done. The network will have a total of 122,000 connection points throughout Andalucía.
One of the frequent topics recently is the mining of rare and critical minerals that are essential for many industries and defence items. Almeria
has become one of the points where Europe is looking for key resources for its energy future, with critical minerals projects under investigation spread throughout the province. Technical teams are currently analysing the subsoil of Almeria in search of key resources such as lithium, silver or fluorite, essential for technology, industry and the energy transition in Europe. The most advanced one under study is located in Pulpí, where the “Terreros” Research Permit is being processed, focused on locating lithium in brines linked to hot springs. This mineral is essential for making rechargeable batteries present in mobile phones, laptops and electric vehicles. In Cuevas del Almanzora, in the historic Sierra Almagrera, the “Jordana” Research Permit is being developed which searches for silver associated with ancient iron and sulphide mineralisation such as copper or lead. It is a key material in electronics and technologies such as solar panels. In Berja, the company Minera de Órgiva will begin activity in the concession known as the ‘Lupión well’ within approximately three months, an exploitation that already has authorisations that marks the return of large-scale mining activity in Almeria province. This is to extract fluorite, a critical raw material for the EU due to its role in multiple industrial processes, especially in a context of energy and digital transition. It is used in steel mills to reduce the melting temperature of scrap, which means lower energy consumption and is also essential for producing hydrofluoric acid. It is needed in refrigeration systems, electronic components and products present in everyday life including medical equipment. Celso Amor, in charge of the project states, “Firstly, we will extract ore to carry out industrial tests and with that data, design the plant. The entire mine will be completely underground, including the treatment plant, which minimises surface impact and traffic. They already have a plant at Órgiva in Granada province selling fluorite and other minerals to Canada, Nigeria and Ukraine, although the main aim is to consolidate their sales in Europe. Estimates are that there are more than 10 million tons of fluorite at both sites. The company expects to employ between 130 and 150 people directly, when the mine reaches its maximum capacity, in addition to indirect jobs

in transportation, services and maintenance. The useful life of the project is long-term and the initial concession is for 30 years, which can be extended. In all of Andalucía, 20 of the 34 raw materials considered to be critical by the EU are present and can be obtained from mines.
During May, a bill will be introduced in the Spanish Parliament to raise the present age of 14 to 16 for access to social media. It also prohibits the use of artificial intelligence for advertising or commercial purposes using the voice or image of any person who has not authorised it. In addition, the new law will protect victims of crimes against the so-called “True crimes” programmes on television so that “the perpetrators of these crimes cannot profit from their crime”. In our province, after a nineyear old boy was cruelly murdered by his father’s partner, the convicted woman tried to set up an interview with a TV station using a mobile phone that she was not entitled to have in prison. The child’s mother was able to stop this happening with penalties for the prison officer who had given it to her. France and the UK are intending to introduce bans and in Australia, one came into force on December 10th last year. It is not working as intended and the Internet safety regulator eSafety states that a “significant percentage” of minors continue to use social networks despite the new law that requires platforms to verify the age of users under threats of fines of up to 49.5 million Australian dollars (about 29 million euros). In the first weeks after December 10th, the platforms deleted or blocked 4.7 million accounts of about 30% of minors, but 70% of them continue using platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat or TikTok, while almost 50% maintain accounts on YouTube. The regulator warns that the majority of children have not been subjected to age verifications. Meta states that there are problems such as the possibility of modifying the declared age, repeated verification attempts or registering with false data, which makes it easier to circumvent the regulations. The head of eSafety, Julie Inman Grant, has warned that the agency is gathering evidence for possible legal action and stressed
that platforms must demonstrate that they have taken “all reasonable” measures to prevent children under 16 years of age from having access. At the same time, Indonesia, which has a similar regulation, has accused big tech companies of a lack of collaboration in implementing the ban. The Indonesian government has told companies such as Meta Platforms and Google to introduce changes to their systems to detect and deactivate accounts of children under 16, but the companies are by no means fully compliant with the law. Indonesia’s Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, said that the platforms had not informed his department of the specific measures they would take to implement the ban and the government has issued “non-compliance notices” to TikTok and Roblox for this reason. Non-compliance can lead to very large fines similar to in Australia.
For a long while, universities in the UK and other countries, have complained that students who graduated with good degrees went to the US to continue their studies and work there because they could earn more money, known as the “brain drain”. Now, the reverse is true and this applies to Spain. Spain’s Ministry of Science and the State Research Agency have a grant system, the ‘Atrae program’, to attract high-flying researchers to move here. Successful applicants who can set up and lead groups of researchers in Spanish universities receive about 1 million euros. In 2023, the first year of the program, not a single US researcher received the grant but in 2024, the number of beneficiaries from the US was 16% and in 2025, it doubled to 32%. This year, 37 scientists have been selected and 21 (56.7%), come from academic institutions in the US. Out of the 254 applications received, 33.5% were from American researchers. The Trump administration has systematically attacked science with budget cuts for some of the country’s most prestigious universities with the freezing of funds and grants that support key research in biomedicine, climate change, renewable energy and space exploration. Despite the Artemis II mission, with Trump congratulating them on social media, he has cut the NASA budget by 23%. Harvard

University has suffered the cancellation of federal contracts and the threat of funding withdrawals, jeopardising the admission and retention of international students, in a dispute still being fought in the courts. One Spanish woman, originally from Asturias, went to the US in 2009 because there was no opportunity to study astrophysics here. She was soon using some of the most advanced telescopes such as the ‘Hubble’ one. Now, leading a team, she continues her research on the primitive materials of the solar system, linked to the James Webb Space Telescope, but at the Asturias Institute of Space Sciences and Technologies at the University of Oviedo. She was awarded a grant in 2024, and there is a very similar scheme in France.
High seas frequently cause damage to Vera Playa, particularly in the ‘Natsun’ and naturalist areas, and as predicted by meteorologists this happened again on March 21st. Streets nearby become flooded
and there is always a loss of sand on the beach. However, the outlook for the future is far more hopeful than on previous occasions. The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco) has issued a favourable resolution to the Environmental Impact Statement of the project to recover the beaches located between the port of Garrucha and the delta of the Almanzora river affecting the coastline of the municipalities of Cuevas del Almanzora, Vera and Garrucha. The agreed project has two breakwaters with one in Vera Playa and one at the Garrucha port, with a budget of 3.6 million euros. The one in Vera Playa, at the Playazo de Vera, will be 40m in length and at the port it will be 269m with a final depth of 6m. In addition, there will be 60,000 m3 of sand trucked in, of a type that matches the existing sand. The mayor of Vera has asked that the work be carried out quickly, and complained that the approval of the project that should have taken six months, has actually taken two years.

The word “tortilla” is the diminutive form of “torta” and literally means a “small cake” or “small pie”. A legend regarding tortilla is that the recipe came from 6,000 Spanish prisoners captured after the Battle of Montes Claros during a war with Portugal in 1665. They are stated to have brought back various recipes and one of them evolved into the modern version of tortilla. Betanzos, in Galicia, has a major annual tortilla competition that stipulates that only potatoes, oil, egg, and salt can be used. However, a survey by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo found that 72.7% of readers preferred tortilla with added onions.
Fingerprints develop before birth when foetuses are still growing in the uterus. The process starts in the third month of pregnancy and finishes by the sixth month. Early studies on fingerprints came from Sir Francis Galton, a scientist who researched fingerprints in the late 19th century. He wanted to study fingerprints as a means of determining intelligence or race but he quickly realised fingerprints reveal nothing about these. People have always used fingerprints as a means of authentication and there are legal documents bearing fingerprints as signatures from ancient China, dating back 3,000 years.
Most maps of the world are wrong because the Mercator Projection, first developed in 1569 by the Flemish cartographer and geographer Gerardus Mercador, is still used today. A twodimensional map cannot accurately depict the three-dimensional Earth. The Mercator Projection was designed to help sailors navigate in a straight line using a compass, but he distorted land masses, particularly near to the poles. They make Alaska appear as large as Brazil and Greenland, 14 times larger than it actually is and Russia, and Canada are too big. The “true size” of countries is available by looking at special interactive maps.

“Yesterday”, the Beatles song, was written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon-McCartney. It was first released on the album Help! in August 1965. It remains popular today, with an estimated 2,200 cover versions, one of the most covered songs in the history of recorded music. “Yesterday” was voted the best song of the 20th century in a 1999 BBC Radio 2 poll of music experts and listeners and was also voted the No. 1 pop song of all time by MTV and Rolling Stone magazine the following year. The song was initially titled “Scrambled Eggs” until it was decided that a single word was best, which was “Yesterday”.
Blue whales are found in every ocean except in the Arctic. They migrate between feeding areas in cooler waters and breading areas in warmer tropical regions. They can grow up to 30m (98ft) in length and weigh up to 200 tons (181tonnes). They feed on krill, tiny shrimp-like organisms, and eat up to six tons a day. They are one of the loudest animals on the planet and the noise they make for communication and navigation can be heard over 1,000km away. Sadly, blue whales are currently classified as endangered but their numbers are slowly increasing. Some subspecies are listed as critically endangered, including Antarctic blue whales.
In the 1970s, the US Food and Drug Administration banned ‘Red Dye No.2’, a synthetic dye commonly used in many food products including sweets. The dye they objected to was specifically a cochineal extract, which is derived from insects that they stated was a health risk and this led to a general wariness of red sweets. Smarties were manufactured by the UK company H.I. Rowntree in York, part of the Nestlé Group and the red dye they used was completely different. To avoid confusion and any backlash, Nestlé removed the red smarties from the ones they sold in the US. Since 2007 they are produced in Hamburg, Germany.
TheJunta de Andalucía have announced that they are increasing the grant money for first time buyers with an extra 10 million euros added to the previous 45 million euros. The scheme provides a 100% purchase facility with the 20% normal deposit coming from the Junta, so it doesn’t have to be from savings and the other 80% from banks who are collaborating with the scheme.
The conditions are that an applicant has to be over the age of 18 and not yet 41, on the ‘padrón’ (the official list of inhabitants in a municipality in Andalucía) and live in the property, that has to be their first-time property, for at least two years. The cost of the property is a maximum of 295,240 euros with an additional 20% for homes with an ‘A’ or ‘B’ energy rating and it can be a new property or a second-hand one. It is an essential requirement that the applicant is up to date with their tax and Social Security obligations.
Banks taking part in the scheme are Caja Rural de Granada that will have available 1.199 million euros, Cajasur 420,248 euros, CaixaBank 1.960 million, Unicaja Banco 1.769 million, Ibercaja 63,114 euros, Caja Rural del Sur 1.896 million and Cajamar 1.691 million. Applicants have to apply to one of the banks who will certify that all the requirements are met and if so, will give a pre-approved loan certificate. The Junta de Andalucía will then approve it and subsequently, the loan will be made available for the purchase. The buyer still has to pay the taxes and expenses involved on the new or second-hand purchase price.
Last month we commented on the new Junta de Andalucía Vehicle Renewal Plan, specifically for self-employed professionals with a direct grant of 3,000 euros, and new details have emerged. New cars and vans will qualify either from a straight purchase, leased, or rented. This takes into account that self-employed people may not have the money to buy a new vehicle outright.
The plan applies to non-electric vehicles either cars or vans, with a level of emissions equal to, or less than 120g CO2/km and a price of up to 35,000 euros plus IVA (VAT). Vehicles must be new and registered for the first time in Spain. To obtain the grant, a vehicle on Spanish plates that is over 10 years old must be scrapped and it has to have a current ITV (MOT). The person applying for the grant must have owned the vehicle prior to March 12th (when the plan was announced). Also, as the plan is backdated to January 1st, it will apply to ones scrapped since then if they qualify.

The scheme has a budget of 5 million euros that is estimated to last for four years, or until all the money has been paid out. The Energy Agency of the Junta (Agencia Andaluza de la Energía) will run the scheme from their website with a 100% telematic process and applicants could start the procedure from April 15th. When the application is approved, the 3,000 euros will be paid into a specified bank account within 30 days. There is then a period of 6 months to acquire a new vehicle and scrap the old one. It is calculated that it will apply to 60,000 self-employed people in Almería province. ‘Gestors’, who deal with legal procedures, will help with the applications if necessary.
Meanwhile, the new central government ‘Auto+Plan’ grants for purchasing an all-electric or hybrid vehicle continues. The deduction of 15% in income tax still applies.

The Guardia Civil Police, on land and sea, and the National Police, have been waging war with the mafia organisations that bring people and drugs in high-speed launches to our province and then need re-fuelling. Almeria province is part of a large area that starts opposite Gibraltar where intelligence and action can be co-ordinated and police forces combine for major operations.
Stopping the high-power launches at sea is extremely difficult and dangerous, so police are concentrating on smashing the logistical operations and seizing fuel. Recently, prison sentences have been stepped up, and anybody apprehended is now charged with belonging to a criminal organisation. A recent change in the law applies to self-service petrol stations at night with no staff. It penalises the owners if they don’t have the device at the nozzle that automatically shuts off to stop fuel being drawn off for more than four minutes or over 60 litres.
In 2025 a total of 120,000 litres of petrol were seized. and the Guardia Civil police describes this as “tangible and forceful”. Starting in June, the ‘Ovidio’ National Police operation, co-ordinated in Almería province, culminated in the arrest of 50 members of the so-called “Clan de los Lateros”, the largest logistics platform for the supply of fuel in the entire Mediterranean. They obtained fuel at self-service petrol stations at night using large capacity 1,000 litre tanks in lorries or vans. It was taken to a building on a plot of land in Adra, where it was transferred to 25 litre containers and taken to deserted buildings along the coast.
The police intervention brought to light a huge illicit operation. They seized more than 700,000 euros hidden under the floors and in walls of various buildings and 30,000 litres of fuel. They embargoed several properties that will eventually be auctioned off, seized 85 vehicles including tanker lorries, and blocked 52 bank accounts with over five million euros. The criminal operation locally was directed from a cell in ‘El Acebuche’ prison in Almería, by means of an encrypted mobile phone.
In August, police arrested two people with 10,000 litres of fuel and seized four high-speed launches, and in mid-October, five people were arrested with nearly 11,000 litres of fuel, five vehicles, a launch and three outboard motors. Another large investigation led to arrests and property seizure in Almería, Alicante and Murcia, and 18,000 litres of fuel. 15 people were charged with belonging to a criminal organisation, document forgery and corporate identity fraud. They fraudulently impersonated various Spanish companies and bought fuel with fictitious orders to a value of 196,000 euros. Police seized tanker lorries along with other vehicles.

On the Wednesday of Easter week, a police patrol heard the sound of a vehicle on the Quitapellejos beach in Villaricos at 4.30am and found a tractor towing a launch on a trailer. The tractor driver escaped but the launch, with four high speed outboard motors, had 3,250 litres of fuel in 130 containers.
On April 15th, a press conference took place at a large warehouse in Almería city. The National Police working with Europol, French and Moroccan police had carried out a joint ‘Operation Embryo’ investigation in Almería and Granada provinces. In the warehouse, described as an international logistic “hub”, the police found 23 assorted launches and four powerful outboards motors. They seized 800 litres of fuel and confiscated 81,000 euros. The gang financed their activities by growing and selling marijuana, and 1,100kg of hookah tobacco was seized. There were six satellite phones, frequency jammers, drones, geolocators, maritime GPS equipment and several guns. Altogether, 24 people were arrested.

Spain was the fourth country in Europe to approve euthanasia that has been legal since June 2021. The recent case of a 25-yearold woman has sparked an intense debate because her father went to court and stopped it happening for 601 days. It is the first time the procedure has been disputed in the courts.
The law in Spain refers to euthanasia as “The action that directly and actively causes the death of a person from health personnel, either by administering a substance that causes death or by prescribing it so that the person can selfadminister it, either in a healthcare centre or at home. An informed and repeated petition process must first be carried out over time, in a context of serious and incurable chronic and disabling illness which causes intolerable suffering. The health system itself will have to guarantee this right to whoever wants it and meets the requirements. The death resulting from the provision of aid to die is considered to be a natural death, it cannot be halted by the criminal justice system.”
The young woman, Noelia Castillo, tried to commit suicide in 2022 by throwing herself from the fifth floor of a building after being raped, and became a paraplegic needing 24/7 constant care. A panel of experts in Barcelona approved her request for euthanasia in July 2024 because she presented “A non-recoverable clinical situation that produced serious dependence, chronic and disabling pain and suffering, with an impact on her autonomy and daily activities, so she complies with the situations contemplated in the law.” The date set for her to be euthanised was August 2nd.
The girl’s father tried to prevent it and hired the services of ‘Christian Lawyers’ that fights euthanasia cases. In a civil appeal they managed to get a court to stop it, asserting that she lacked the mental capacity to decide for herself. This began a saga that between trials, sentences and appeals in five courts lasted a year and eight months. In January this
year, the Spanish Supreme Court rejected an appeal by the father and on March 10th, the European Court of Human Rights rejected an appeal to them, stating that the decision of the Spanish Supreme Court was paramount.

The next day, in an interview on a Spanish radio station Noelia told them, “I want to leave in peace and stop the suffering and that’s it. I have finally made it. Every day is horrible and painful. Let’s see if I can rest now, because I can’t take it anymore with my family, with the pain, with everything that torments me in my head from what I have experienced.” Referring to her father she stated, “He has not respected my decision and never will. He never calls me or writes to me. Why does he want me alive? To have me stay in a hospital?” She continued, “I don’t want my family to see me closing my eyes. I’d rather we say goodbye and then, if they want to come in let them come, but I want to die on my own”. On Thursday, March 26th, she was sedated and given an injection in her room at the Sant Pere de Ribes Residential Hospital in Barcelona wearing her favourite dress, becoming the youngest person in Spain to have euthanasia approved and carried out.
On Friday, March 27th, the Spanish Minister of Health, Mónica García, stated that they will accept a petition from the Catalonia Parliament to the Spanish Parliament calling for a review and would study the ramifications in this case

Dames of Huercal-Overa have their 20th anniversary in June this year, so we are celebrating this milestone by organising a Masquerade Ball on 13th June at Las Vegas Bar & Restaurant, Los Pinos, Huercal-Overa (All welcome), to mark this momentous occasion.
Set up as a charity in 2006, we are a membership group of ladies which raises funds for local causes. The annual membership is 15 euros pp which runs from January to December. All profit from our evening events, coach trips as well as monthly meetings go into the charity pot, along with monies raised from our raffles throughout the year.
At the end of each year the membership agree which local charities/non-profit organisations will receive a share of the monies raised within that year. This includes working with Huercal-Overa Ayuntamiento to give extra assistance/support as required, to worthy causes known to them. 2025 was a bumper year with a massive 4500 euros raised which was distributed between 5 local organisations.
Everything is done on a voluntary basis by the committee who are voted in at the yearly AGM. We meet once a month whereby, after the January AGM & February distribution of funds, we invite small business or craft enterprises to

come along and give a talk about themselves/ business in the months thereafter. We also have the very much valued support of local business who sponsor our events, provide prizes as well as advertise them in their premises or on social media.
New members will be made very welcome at our meetings which are on the 3rd Wednesday every month. We meet in the salon at Las Vegas bar restaurant in Huercal-Over at 10.30am. Dames exists and thrives because of the support of its members and local businesses. Please contact Jennie Walter (chairperson) for any further info on WhatsApp 634 309 229 or email dameshurcalovera@gmail.com

Los Bandidos runners stepped up to longer race challenges this weekend, taking on events across Spain, the UK and Belgium.
Mark Ratcliffe travelled to Valencia to compete in the Ironman 70.3 Valencia. Sea conditions were near perfect for the 1,900m swim, setting the tone for a strong performance. The 90km bike course featured 600m of climbing before the race concluded with a 21km run starting and finishing beside the iconic Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias. Mark crossed the line in 5:49:25 (swim 41:26; bike 2:54:01; run 1:56:42).
Gail Colville returned to the UK to race the Manchester Marathon, renowned for its fast and flat course. She delivered an outstanding performance, finishing in 3:33:54 and securing a new marathon personal best.
Meanwhile in Belgium, Rudi supported Frederik and Karen at the Leuven Marathon. Frederik completed the 42km distance in an impressive 3:01:29, while Karen ran the half marathon in 1:54:35.

Welcome to May and what a great way to start our “pup-date”, having found loving homes for 27 dogs and 19 cats during March. Thank you to all the families that have given these previous members of PAWS-PATAS family their new beginnings
The good news keeps coming. Our March Bingo Lunch club raised 431 euros with everyone having an incredibly fun day and one lucky lady being the recipient of a 200 euro furniture voucher, kindly donated by Indalo Muebles
Our Mr & Mrs Competition was a roaring success. Not only did we raise 410 euros but everyone enjoyed it, with fabulous prizes including a weekend for 2 in Almeria for the winners, courtesy of Adelpha Travel. Thank you to everyone for entering into the spirit and showing us just how much (or in some cases not so much) you know about your partner! Finally our end of month quiz raised 357 euros and we received 85 euros from new PAWS-SOME Club members.
More good news - this time it’s a huge congratulations to Vicky, a PAWS-PATAS volunteer who won our recent PAWS-SOME Club draw and is looking forward to spending her 250 euros of vouchers. She’s chosen a pet shop so she can buy
toys and goodies for the cats in our care. How lovely is that?
Vicky chose one of our previous rescues, a cat named Apolo, to represent her in the draw so she has him to thank for her win. Apolo’s story began in 2024 when as a timid young kitten, he and his sister, Aphrodita, were discovered in a dilapidated building on the verge of renovation. With little to no experience of human contact, both kittens were understandably nervous and wary. After ten months of dedication, Apolo transformed from a frightened, untouchable kitten into a sweet and affectionate young cat who loves attention and happily curles up for cuddles.
Now to thank you’s –
Peni Howe who held a walk and brunch event raising 1430 euros towards Santi’s vet bill, a PAWS-PATAS dog she’s fostering, who needed surgery for a broken paw that he had when he arrived to us.
Brad Swift of Mojácar FB Forum who raised 480 euros from an auction of 2 bikes.
Businesses who allow us to have donation tins in their premises and to the general public who donate. A total of 167.64 euros was recently collected from Jean & Co, Masko, Moeve and the Pharmacy at Red Cross Roundabout, Mojácar.
To every single one of you who supports us in some way, volunteering, donating goods to our shops or by attending an event. All donations are truly appreciated and it’s true that we couldn’t do what we do without your kindness.

Travel will be on your mind, but you should be sure that you’ve got all your work up-to-date. Opportunities to get together with people in powerful positions could help you get ahead. Go over their important documents and takethe time to suggest alternatives. Get out and enjoy some entertainment. Your luckiest events this month will occuron a Saturday.
There are ways of making extra cash if you put your mind to it. Do what’s best for the people you love most. In return, the satisfaction you get is enough for you. If you try to manipulate emotional situations you will find yourself alienated. Your luckiest events this month will occur on a Tuesday.
Visitors may drop by unexpectedly, resulting in tension with your lover. You may meet that special person if you attend fundraising functions. You can meet new and exciting lovers through work related projects. Your hard work will payoff; advancement looks positive. Your luckiest events this month will occur on a Wednesday.
Physical limitations are possible if you aren’t careful. Try to be considerate in your personal obligations. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. Do not overspend on entertainment. Your luckiest events this month will occur on a Monday.

Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really angry. She told him “Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT’D BETTER BE THERE!” The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale. Bob has been missing since Friday.
Teacher: “If I gave you 2 cats and another 2 cats and another 2, how many would you have?”
Johnny: “Seven.” Teacher: “No, listen carefully... If I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?”
Johnny: “Seven.” Teacher: “Let me put it to you differently. If I gave you two apples, and another two apples and another two, how many would you have?” Johnny: “Six.” Teacher: “Good. Now if I gave you two cats, and another two cats and another two, how many would you have?”
Johnny: “Seven!” Teacher: “Johnny, where in the heck do you get seven from?!” Johnny: “Because I’ve already got a cat!”
Dave pulled up a stool at his favourite bar and announced, “My wife must love me more than any woman has ever loved any man!”
The bartender inquired, “What makes you say that?” Dave beamed with pride, “Last week, I had to take a couple of sick days from work...”
“She was so thrilled to have me around, that every time a mail or delivery person came by, she’d run down the driveway waving her arms hollering, ‘My husband’s home! My husband’s home!’”
At school, Little Johnny’s classmate tells him that most adults are hiding at least one dark secret, so it’s very easy to blackmail them by saying, “I know the whole truth.” Little Johnny decides to go home and try it out. Johnny’s mother greets him at home, and he tells her, “I know the whole truth.” His mother quickly hands him 20 dollars and says, “Just don’t tell your father.” Quite pleased, the boy waits for his father to get home from work, and greets him with, “I know the whole truth.” The father promptly hands him 40 dollars and says, “Please don’t say a word to your mother.” Very pleased, the boy is on his way to school the next day when he sees the mailman at his front door. The boy greets him by saying, “I know the whole truth.” The mailman immediately drops the mail, opens his arms, and says, “Then come give your Daddy a great big hug!”
I was out walking with my 4 year old daughter. She picked up something off the ground and started to put it in her mouth. I took the item away from her and I asked her not to do that.
“Why?” my daughter asked.
“Because it’s been laying outside, you don’t know where it’s been, it’s dirty and probably has germs” I replied.
At this point, my daughter looked at me with total admiration and asked, “Wow! How do you know all this stuff?”
“Uh,” I was thinking quickly, “All moms know this stuff. It’s on the Mommy Test. You have to know it, or they don’t let you be a Mommy.”
We walked along in silence for 2 or 3 minutes, but she was evidently pondering this new information.
“OH...I get it!” she beamed, “So if you don’t pass the test you have to be the daddy.”
“Exactly” I replied back with a big smile on my face and joy in my heart

A lady comes home from her doctor’s appointment grinning from ear to ear. Her husband asks, “Why are you so happy?” The wife says, “The doctor told me that for a forty-five year old woman, I have the breasts of an eighteen-year-old.” “Oh yeah?” quipped her husband, “What did he say about your forty-five-year-old ass?”
She said, “Your name never came up in the conversation.”
Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Officer asks a young engineer fresh out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, “And what starting salary are you looking for?”
The engineer replies, “In the region of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package.”
The interviewer inquires, “Well, what would you say to a package of five weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every two years, say, a red Corvette?” The engineer sits up straight and says, “Wow! Are you kidding?” The interviewer replies, “Yeah, but you started it.”
My wife asked me, “Why don’t you treat me like you did when we were first dating!?” So I took her to dinner and a movie...
Then dropped her off at her parents’ house.
Jerry and Stan are walking down the street when they see a stunning woman in a firstfloor window, blowing kisses at them. Jerry says, “Hey, look at that! That woman is blowing kisses at me!”
Stan replies, “Just ignore her. Don’t pay her any mind.”
The woman then gestures for him to come up to her apartment.
Jerry says, “Did you see that? She’s calling for me!”
Stan insists, “Man, don’t go up there!”
Jerry asks, “Why not? Why don’t you want me to go see her?”
Stan pleads, “Dude, just listen to me. Don’t go!”
Jerry ignores him and runs into the building. The woman comes down to meet him, and they go up to her apartment. Just as they are about to get into bed, they hear a car horn outside. The woman looks out the window and says, “Oh no, that’s my husband!”
“Don’t worry,” she says, pointing to a large pile of clothes. “I’ll just tell him you’re the new housekeeper. Here, start ironing these clothes.”
Because the husband stays home all day, Jerry spends the entire day ironing.
The next day, Jerry goes to Stan’s house and tells him the story. “You won’t believe what happened. Her husband came home, and to avoid suspicion, she had me iron a huge pile of clothes. I was stuck there ironing all day!”
“I told you not to go.” sighs Stan, “All those clothes you spent the day ironing? I washed them the day before.”
