REVIEW

YOUR IMPACT IN 2019

These are our stories, families, and data points from 2019. It's hard to even remember the world as it was “way” back then. In 2019, we met face-to-face with the families in our valley. Our students met with their mentors on playgrounds and in lunchrooms all over this town. Parents by the thousands showed up for Dynamite Dads, Love and Logic®, Gym Days, Circle of Security®, and Summer Fun in the Park to name only a few. Girls on the Run®, Girls For a Change, Let Me Run and our summer camps were buzzing with youthful energy. Although 2019 seems like a whole different world from the world we are living today, some things remain the same. We are not all in the same boat. Some of our boats have a sturdy hull and can withstand the harshest winds. Some of our boats leak and we bail and bail just to stay afloat. We know that the storm looks different depending on which boat you are in. We also know when we all work together to acknowledge the differences in our circumstances and step up to help our vulnerable neighbors and our children we can change the outcomes for our families and community for generations to come. We are stronger together. Maybe you took time out of your day to mentor a child or volunteered to teach a girl a new skill like coding or backcountry first aid. Maybe you recognized the challenges you faced as a parent and reached out for help. Maybe you seized one of the many opportunities to better connect with your child or better understand how you can be an active participant in your child’s education. Maybe you recognized that racial inequities make us weaker as a nation and kindness is always the right answer. However you showed up, it made a difference in our community. Our families and community thrive when we acknowledge the differences in our boats, show up with our buckets, start bailing water, and patch holes together.

“As young parents we struggle to provide for our children, Thrive makes it possible for us as parents to achieve being the best parents we can be. They give us the support when we may not have it with family or friends. It’s everything they do from clothes for the children to helping parents provide meals. Giving us education on children’s behavior and how to manage it, to how to manage parent stresses and all for no cost. One big thing I can say is also the support the mentors give. Understanding the struggles we face and Thrive is always there with no judgement, just love and acceptance.” - Aleah Corona

Laura has created some incredible experiences for Evan during this difficult time including writing letters, growing seeds, sharing new books, and creating this awesome scavenger hunt! “Thank you so much for making Evan feel special. He loved the bag of treasures and said things like “Yes!” and “It’s everything I wanted!” Really, are you psychic, Laura? He’s been wanting scented markers! And he just loves blank white paper to make his creations. He’s been getting into reading on his own more so the books are perfect! Oh, and the Swedish fish were a hit. You made Evan’s and my day today. Thank you.” - Evan’s mom

Both of my daughters have participated in multiple seasons of Girls On The RunŽ, a fantastic program that really improved my girls' confidence and sense of empowerment. The GOTR coaches and running buddies are kind and encouraging role models that my kids think of fondly. All of Thrive's programs help make the Bozeman community an amazing place!" - Sarah Cairoli, Parent “This program (Let Me Run) provides a healthy outlet to our kids. Through their training and lessons, students are able to apply these positive choices in their classroom (social behavior). - Principal

THRIVING INTO THE FUTURE

If we have learned one thing over the last few months it's that necessity is the mother of invention. Like everyone else we have been forced to look at how we offer our services. We have had to get creative about how we offer parent education, home visiting, and school-based mentoring. Our goal is to keep our community and students safe while continuing to provide mental health support, access to community resources and meaningful mentoring experiences for school age kids. At Thrive, we will continue to use the newest information from our local health department and the CDC to make informed decisions. We hope to get back to normal soon.

We miss seeing your faces!
