In this year of compassion, Shrek Jnr was the perfect choice for our biennial Junior School Musical. In an age when compassion has never seemed more important Shrek Jnr echoes the message of embracing commonality of our humanity while celebrating our uniqueness “What makes us special makes us strong.”

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the remarkable cast. When we started this journey in June last year and announced our 2022 Junior School Musical, the screams of delight from 600 Junior School students were deafening and spine tingling at the same time. This is the largest cast we have ever had in a Junior School

musical. They have worked with boundless energy and grit for months and deserve all the congratulations and adulations for their unwavering commitment and

Big Bright Beautiful World Story of My Life What’s Up, Duloc?

How do you overcome your nerves? I just go with the flow. I don’t really mind that there’s people in the audience, I just think of it like another rehearsal.

Olivia Chong, Aria Flick and Oscar Webber

Faith Harris, Alana Harrison and Paige Imlach

What’s the best thing about being Donkey? I get to make a lot of new friends and, well, I get a bit of time off school too!

Hannah McLachlan Amelia Amor

What makes you a bit ‘freaky’? I think my face paint. It takes about 10 minutes just to wash off.

Who is a castmate you admire? I really admire all the main cast because they’ve been helping me out a lot.

Avalon Terry

What was the funniest moment during rehearsals? Probably when we did my first microphone test and I didn’t realise the mic was constantly on. I shouted “I can’t find my socks” and everyone heard!

What is it like to sing on the Nairn stage? Well it’s a bit nerve wracking but it feels good once you get into it.

Liam Braithwaite

What’s the best thing about being in an All Saints musical? I’ve seen alot of the shows that have gone on at the School, and until now I haven’t actually seen what goes on behind the scenes. It’s great to see what goes into it.

What is your favourite musical and why? All three High School Musicals. There is a lot of dancing and that’s my favourite thing.

Fiona Lord FarquaadAustinAaronMadrersSharma

Mischa Ong

Ava Golder

How do you prepare for Shrek? I just read through the script a hundred times and memorised, memorised, memorised!

What’s the best thing about doing drama or performing arts? Being able to get out of your comfort zone a bit – being able to be someone else.

Darcy Arthur Liam Scott

What is the biggest challenge about leading? Some of the songs. I Know It’s Today is really hard, and it’s difficult to learn all your lines.

Did you borrow some inspiration from Eddie Murphy? Yes, 100 percent. What is your favourite thing about Shrek? It’s spending time with friends and getting to perform at the end of rehearsals.

How do you prepare for Farquaad? I get my knees ready first of all! Then I practise my lines a lot, and then practise some more.

Who is a castmate you admire? It’s really great to work with Aaron Sharma because he’s always chatting and happy, and it’s fun for all the other people in the show.

Katarina Lange, Matilda Petty and Grace Robinson

PrincessDonkeyShrek

What makes you a bit ‘freaky’? Probably the fiery orange wig and just going a little bit crazy at times!

Allegra Clarke Adelaide Blair Sianna Leong, Elizabeth McLaren and Vivien Robinson

Joanna Ye

What’s the best thing about Fiona? Probably getting to do the farting scene in I Think I Got You Beat. I like to see people happy and laughing!

How does it feel to be the bad guy? Quite good to be honest. It just feels like I have the power.
