We used to do 100 chickens, but that seems like nothing now!”

When the restaurant first opened in 1961, Phyllis and the other waitresses wore white hats and homemade uniforms. “I hated those hats,” she said.

“We all did. But my mother insisted we wear them!”

Back then, a chicken dinner with all the fixings was $1.50. If you just wanted a half, it was 75 cents. “I found a sign in the old slaughterhouse that read ‘Chicken Burger, 75 cents,’” she said. “I cleaned it up and gave it to John one Christmas.”

f you want a quiet dinner, then the B-Side Ballroom & Supper Club isn’t for you … but if you want to see and be seen by Oneonta’s best and brightest while you listen to some great live tunes, then pull up a chair! Somewhere between a jazz bar and a rock club, the B-Side is pleasantly dim, with closely packed tables perfect for conversation. Most nights have live music, from Americana and folk to jazz and blues to rock & roll, so dinner music is built right in.

One night you might see the house band, another, touring artists like Kyle Cook (formerly of Matchbox 20) or Sarah Guthrie – the daughter of Arlo and granddaughter of Woody.

And the food! It’s a highclass take on traditional pub fare, with plenty of vegan and gluten-free options too, including the Wild Forest Mushroom Risotto and the Butternut Squash Burger.

But my favorite is the sirloin tips – tender and savory, served with mashed potatoes that just soak up that extra demi glace, and seasonal vegetables, grilled to perfection.

t one point, suspected Russian infiltrators were using a “#TenGop” Twitter hashtag, causing the Tennessee Republican Party to believe it would be wrongly blamed for the tweets.

“No Twitter, it’s not us,” the Tennessee GOP advised the social-media platform, so “#TenGop” was blocked.

The Russians didn’t intend to co-opt the Tennessee Republicans at all.

That was one humorous moment in discussion of a serious topic – “Russian Disinformation: Will it Happen Again?” – by a member

The answer to that question seems to be, probably.

Timberg, who has been the Post’s national technology reporter for several years, said he is impressed by the scope and success of the 2016 interference, by “how really good they were.”

“At no point did I feel we have our arms around this,” he continued. “Maybe what we’ve seen is everything.

But I don’t think we’ve gotten to the bottom of the story.”
