Constitution Pipeline Fails In U.S. Court

A

U.S. Circuit Court has affirmed the state Department of Conservation’s decision not to grant necessary waterquality permits to the Constitution Pipeline, planned to carry fracked natural gas from Northeast Pennsylvania to East Coast markets. Pipeline foes hailed the decision, issued Friday, Aug. 18, as a victory. But the pipeline company said another court decision has given jurisdiction to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, where it is hoping for a different outcome. APPOINTMENT DUE: The Otsego Now board was planning to appoint a successor to Sandy Mathes, its president, when it met at 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 24.
