Foothills Tags Former Yankee Bernie Williams

fter a year-long negotiation, Foothills Performing Arts Center Executive Director Huemac Garcia announced Tuesday, July 25, former New York Yankee and Latin Grammynominee Bernie Williams has been drafted to play a local concert this summer. Williams, who went to the World Series four times during 16 years with the Yanks, will bring his jazz-infused rock sound to Oneonta Friday, Aug. 2.

he idea of a flexible private-sector economic-development entity is taking on a life of its own. County Rep. Betty Anne Schwerd, REdmeston, who is leading the charge on the county government’s behalf, and Oneonta Mayor Dick Miller have hammered out a

list of talking points fleshing out the initial conversations. And Schwerd planned to press for a meeting between the IDA (Industrial Development Agency), with as many county representatives in attendance as possible, when the IDA met Thursday, June 27.
