Social-Hosting Law Is Signed With No Fight

ith none of the promised objections from students, Mayor Gary Herzig indictated to sign the “Social Hosting” law that Common Council unanimously voted in favor of at the March 20 meeting. “The science tells us that when a community limits avalibility and accessibility, problems with excess use of alcohol are reduced,” said Julie Dostal, executive director, LEAF Inc, during the public hearing. “I would like to thank the City Council for taking this step towards a healthier, safer Oneonta.” She also offered to work with student groups who were interested in learning about safer choices for their peers. 20 YEARS: With the help of TV cameras in every room, Joshua Underwood, 25, was sentenced to 20 years in state prison for the murder of Mark Morrison, 52, on New Year’s Day, 2017.
