Short-Term Stays Eyed By City Hall ONEONTA
W
ith the increasingly volatile debate over short term rentals in Oneonta, Mayor Gary Herzig proposed the creation of a Short-Term Rental Task Force at the Common Council meeting on Jan. 2. âThe purpose of this task force will be to gather information relating to the matter of short term rentals, and to report to the council with their findings and ultimately make a suggestion as to what action to take,â said Herzig. Council members Michele Frazier and Michelle Osterhoudt volunteered to serve on the task force. SAFE DRIVING: Oneonta Chief Doug Brenner reported that there were no arrests for DWI within the city limits on New Yearâs Eve. FATAL ACCIDENT: James C. Crosby, 31, Delhi, was killed on Dec. 29 after his 2001 Buick Century allegedly crossed into the southbound lane on State Route 28 in the Town of Franklin and struck a tractor trailer operated by Jamie L. Dougherty, Oneonta.

he first two âSeward Summitsâ heralded the most powerful drive for economic development in Otsego County since the go-go 1960s. That drive sputtered in midsummer with the wholesale resignation of the staff at Otsego Now, the countyâs economicdevelopment arm. Undeterred, state Sen. Jim Seward, R-Milford, is going back at it.
