nly apocalyptic TV shows had prepared Seymour Miles for what he saw when he volunteered to help in Brooklyn after Hurricane Sandy. “It was like the ‘Walking Dead’,” he said. “It was sad. These people went two weeks without power. I can’t imagine going two days.” “It smelled really bad,” added Thomas Hamilton. “There were no street lamps, cars were flooded, basements were flooded to the top.” Hamilton Miles, Hamilton and seven other military cadets from the Oneonta Job Corps Academy served two days on “Operation Sandy” missions, the first on Nov. 10 and the second on Nov. t was one of Rabbit Goody’s coats that almost broke Tom Hanks. “It was a double-cloth twill weave from a 1929 pattern,” she recalled. “It weighed 32 pounds. There was a scene in ‘Road to Perdition’ where he was dripping wet, and it was too much for him.” Goody hosted “Thistle Hill Goes to the

Movies,” a retrospective lecture on the fabrics she’s woven for film and television on Saturday, Nov. 15, to a packed studio in her Thistle Hill Weavers, located on a usually quiet country lane near Route 20.
