EDITIONS OF MAY 26-27, 2016: Islamberg youngsters joined 300-500 visitors, including a busload from Oneonta and Cooperstown, in protesting “American Bikers Against Jihad” Sunday, May 15, at the American Muslim community near Hancock, Delaware County. The “American Bikers” threatened a huge anti-Muslim show of force but, in the end, only five motorcycles and five cars came up from Tennessee for the demonstration.

EDITIONS OF DEC. 8-9, 2016: To gasps and applause, the 94-foot-tall Norway spruce harvested from the 72 Country Club Road home of Graig, Angie, Brock and Ava Eichler in the Town of Oneonta is illuminated with 50,000 lights next to the ice rink in Rockefeller Center. The selection of the Eichlers’ tree had Otsego County abuzz through the month of November, and Oneontans chartered buses to New York City to experience the lighting.
EDITION OF MARCH 1011, 2016: Cooperstown Fun Park on Route 28, Hartwick Seminary, top, was identified as the site of a future 200-room, $500 million waterpark proposed by Hyman Hemispheric from the Capitol District. The developer spent the rest of this year working on state and local permitting in hopes of beginning construction next fall.
