The Arsenal of Observation.
Drainage Infrastructure
the diffuse heart of New Orleans
New Orleans’ elaborate system of drainage collection, pumping, conveyance, and discharge mitigates flooding from rainfall, allows for subsurface draining, and, in many instances, assumes spatial dominance over the city fabric. The reportage locates disparate visible elements of New Orleans’ drainage infrastructure and examines how they are situated in (or imposed upon) their “civilian” surroundings.
