Classroom Spotlight:
Monica has been teaching at LBCC for about 20 years. Her love of teaching led her to pursue additional training, and she now also offers Arthritis Foundation Exercise and Sun Style Tai Chi in addition to her Better Bones & Balance classes. “Because I love teaching, it’s easy to make the class fun,” Monica shared, and her students couldn’t agree more.
Students describe her classes as upbeat, motivating, and full of variety. “I don’t work out at home, but I’ll drive over here to go to class!” one student shared. Monica incorporates lively music and an eclectic blend of movements to keep everyone engaged. Her BBB technique–focused activities include squats, lunges, stomps, and weighted vests, along with benches for aerobics, weights, resistance bands, stability balls, and both dynamic and static stretching.
Students appreciate that Monica “leads by example,” demonstrating each move at the front of the class with enthusiasm and attention to proper technique. Many participants notice physical benefits, sharing that they “feel like the class slows

down the aging process.” They also value the social aspect, saying they’ve gained friends and community, making the class feel more like a fun hangout than a workout.
Join Monica for an energetic and supportive fitness experience at LBCC!
from the President

Dear community,
As I write this letter, we are witnessing one of the most transformative technological shifts of our generation— the rise of artificial intelligence in our daily lives. From the tools we use at work to the way we communicate and solve problems, AI is reshaping how we live, learn, and solve problems. At LBCC, we are committed to ensuring our community has the knowledge and skills to navigate this evolving landscape confidently and effectively.
This winter, I am excited to share that we are continuing to offer one of our newest courses, Practical Applications of AI, which launched this fall. This course demystifies artificial intelligence by focusing on realworld applications that anyone can use, regardless of their technical background. Whether you’re looking to enhance your professional skills, streamline personal projects, or simply understand the technology that’s increasingly present in our lives, this course provides practical, hands-on learning that you can apply immediately.
Understanding AI isn’t just about keeping pace with technology—it’s about empowerment. When our community members understand how AI works and how to use it ethically and effectively, they gain tools that can enhance productivity, spark creativity, and open new opportunities in virtually every field. From business and healthcare to education and the arts, AI is creating new possibilities while also raising important questions about privacy, bias, and responsible use. Our course addresses both the opportunities and the challenges, helping students become informed and thoughtful users of these powerful tools. In this class and others, LBCC brings innovation into spaces that will be applicable to our community members in hands-on, skills-based labs and classrooms.
LBCC has always been responsive to our community’s evolving needs, and this commitment to staying current enables us to serve you effectively. The Community Education courses in this catalog represent our dedication to providing accessible, relevant education that meets you where you are and helps you reach where you want to be. Whether you’re curious about AI or drawn to one of our many other offerings, we’re here to support your learning journey. I encourage you to browse through this catalog and consider how these offerings might enrich your life this winter. Remember, LBCC continues to provide educational opportunities that empower and inspire through Education for All.
