Dear community,
As I write this letter, I’m still energized by the incredible celebration we shared at commencement this past June. Watching our graduates cross the stage—each carrying their own unique story of perseverance and transformation—reminded me once again why community colleges are such vital pillars in our region. The resilience and determination I witnessed that day perfectly embodies the spirit of collaboration that makes LBCC so special.
At LBCC, we proudly allow families to march with their students during our Commencement celebration, helping show the broad benefits of education to generations of Linn and Benton County residents.
The synergy between our college and community partners creates something truly extraordinary. It’s not just about offering classes—it’s about weaving together resources, expertise, and shared vision to cultivate an environment where every learner can thrive. From partnerships with local healthcare systems that provide clinical experience for our diagnostic imaging students to relationships with regional manufacturers shaping our career technical programs, collaboration is at the heart of what we do.
One of the most impactful examples of this spirit can be found in the work of our Family Resources and Education Center. Through partnerships with organizations like Strengthening Rural Families, Greater Albany Public Schools, and the Boys and Girls Clubs, we provide accessible, community-rooted programming that supports families and early learning professionals across our region—from cradle to career.
The graduates we celebrated this summer are living proof of what happens when we work together. They didn’t succeed in isolation—they were supported by dedicated faculty, encouraged by their families, and strengthened by a community that invested in their futures.
As we move forward, LBCC remains committed to nurturing these partnerships and creating lasting impact through inclusive education and deep community engagement—ensuring that Education for All remains not just our promise, but our shared reality. Wishing you a joyful and restful summer with those you love.
Thanks,
Lisa Avery Linn-Benton Community College President
