Founded in 1949 by local personalities, its status has been officially registered with the Ministry of Lands as a Trust. It has become the most important Alliance française on the African continent with nearly 5 000 different students every year. Its staff comprises of 80 people; including 25 highly trained and skilled teachers of French. A centre of excellence for French language courses for all sections of the society, Alliance Française de Nairobi has continued to be an active cultural centre, with a monthly programme of activities showcasing local and international Arts, facilitating creativity and promoting intercultural enrichment.
