LM3D USER GUIDE

LM3D

is a new interactive 3D map of Lower Manhattan.

LM3D gives planners, investors, residents and all neighborhood stakeholders a new and unparalleled way to visualize the development of this ever evolving neighborhood like never before.

LM3D’s helpful tools can help users search for information on an individual building, in a select area or to analyze land use across the neighborhood.

Driven by data updated daily, this online 3D mapping tool tracks all commercial, hotel and residential development below Chambers Street. While also revealing institutional, open space, transit and retail locations.

LM3D USER GUIDE BUILDING INFO Click on an individual building to view information on the building’s land-use designation, construction/conversion date, lease type, unit count, floor count, square footage and retail tenants.

To display selected buildings only, use the Hide Unselected feature from the Tools menu.

AREA SELECT TOOL To find out land uses, building and unit counts, in a defined area, use the Area Select tool to precisely outline a custom area. To view data on one of Lower Manhattan’s key corridors, select Corridors and choose a predefined corridor such as: Water Street, Fulton Street, Broadway or The World Trade Center.

Then select View to summarize data.

DROP PIN TOOL The Drop Pin tool allows users to analyze retail, residential, hotel, institutional and commercial buildings within a certain distance from any point on the map.

Click on the Tools menu, select Drop Pin and place on the map. Once the pin is placed, select a radius and select the land uses of interest. Click Show to see a data summary of all the buildings within the selected distance.

LM3D USER GUIDE LAND USE ANALYSIS LM3D organizes buildings into Residential, Hotel, Commercial (Office), Transportation, Retail/ Restaurant/Services and Institutional land uses. Select Land Use on the toolbar to filter buildings by up to two land uses.

To review a certain type of residential building click Residential on the toolbar and further filter buildings by Tenure or Building Type.

Then select View to summarize data.

VISUALIZE DEVELOPMENT To find out more about Lower Manhattan’s robust development pipeline, click Development Pipeline and filter by Under Construction and/or Planned/Future Development. Further filter results by Land Use in the toolbar.

LM3D USER GUIDE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What are LM3D’s data sources?

LM3D uses ADNY data, PLUTO data version 16.2 and Open Street Map. LM3D’s data is updated daily.

How can I export and share maps?

Export maps by using the Print Screen button on your keyboard. Have a specific research question or market data need? Contact Research@downtownny.com What browsers work best with LM3D? You can use LM3D in the latest versions of Chrome, Safari or Firefox. LM3D does not function in Internet Explorer.

What is an Institutional Land Use? LM3D considers buildings solely occupied by a museum, a school, a hospital, a place of worship, or a government entity to be an institutional land use.

What does the Development Pipeline include?

LM3D uses ADNY commercial office, residential and hotel inventory data to populate the development pipeline. The development pipeline includes buildings which are currently under construction or in the planned/future development stage. Planned/future development includes projects that have been reported in the press or filed plans with the city.

What does Tenure mean?

LM3D’s residential pipeline allows users to further refine data by tenure, meaning whether or not a residential unit is a rental unit or a condo/co-op unit.
