We asked ourselves what is it about the desert that inspires us to work in the way we do. What is it about being architects and designers in a city in the desert that we bring to the buildings we make in other places? For that matter, where does the influence of being a desert dweller end? And where does the multitude of other experiences, memories and distractions in this chaotic media rich modern life take over? How do we bring these seemingly disparate perceptions together to the practice of architecture? To create meaningful spaces for people to live, work and play in? We find ourselves questioning the filters that separate the Detritus of useful inspiration from the chaos and noise of everyday life. We find harmonious ways to allow them to co-exist. Perhaps separating them is not the point.
We then re-evaluate.
And Again.
“Desert Detritus” is a collection of selected imagery of our work orchestrated in response to these questions and musings.
