Full Instructions 1. Your essay must be typed and submitted digitally using the class’s Blackboard shell on the UAPTC website. 2. Your essay must be written in MLA style (8th edition) and contain a works-cited page, in-text documentation (parenthetical, tag/signal phrases, etc.) as discussed in class and outlined in your textbook. 3. You can argue anything you wish in your essay with two exceptions: Your essay cannot be for or against abortion OR for or against the legalization or criminalization of street drugs (i.e. marijuana) for any use—medically, recreational, or otherwise. 4. Your essay must include outside research—>3 sources—that is properly credited. 5. Plagiarism will result in a zero on the essay. 6. Essays not containing a works-cited page will receive a zero. 7. Essays not uploaded properly to the class’s Blackboard shell will receive a zero. 8. While your essays will be graded using the rubric on the class’s Blackboard shell, you should pay special attention to the following: • avoiding grammar, punctuation, spelling, and other mechanical errors; • using correct MLA style; • using the rhetorical techniques discussed in class (ethos, pathos, and logos); • using reputable, reliable sources; and • avoiding logical fallacies (argumentum ad hominem, argumentum ad populum, argumentum ad traditionem, etc.)
