2012 SUPPLEMENTAL CATALOG

Greetings Allen Edmonds Friends, This year, Allen Edmonds celebrates its 90th anniversary. At the half-way point of our celebration, we are happy to report that we’ve been ahead of the outbreak of bright colors in clothing trends this past spring. The apparel industry has trended toward eyegrabbing arrays of royal blues, lime greens, bright oranges and even brighter yellows.

This movement, which has been a couple years in the making, stands in stark contrast to the “black is the new black” dogma that ruled the past. Black-on-black and even traditional white-on-black clothing combinations moved to the back shelf this past spring season.

Similarly, we’re seeing more and more applications of new color and finishes in shoes for fall. Within the pages of the mid-year catalog update, we have continued to build on the trend of international fashions leaning toward authentic American styling, with a few twists – more dynamic brogue wingtips, a wider variation of classic calfskin leather colors and cloud finishes, rugged cowhide looks that evoke the American West, new unconstructed and unlined boots with fresher, fashion-forward accents, and a list of new product additions and colors of elegant shell cordovan. Plus, after the successful re-introduction of the 90th anniversary Broadstreet spectator shoe, we are introducing the Jodox and the Hamptons as early releases for fall, each celebrating a bit of our own history as an American manufacturer.

As new trends continue to evolve, some things stay the same. We will most certainly continue to expand our product portfolio and respond to industry trends but, as we do, we also stay true to the approach that got us here in the first place – our promise of quality, hand-made American craftsmanship, timeless American style, and, most importantly, our commitment to provide the best service in the business. It’s because of you that we can proudly say that this year’s anniversary celebration is just another chapter for Allen Edmonds, and we again want to extend our deepest thanks to you for your support of the past 90 years of Great American Shoemaking!
