2025 Corporate Challenge in Review

Corporate Challenge 2025 wrapped up at the end of April, and the City of Nacogdoches represented itself well with a third place finish with 89 points Some of the City’s top finishes were in the following events:

W Mini Golf - 1st

Washers - 2 & 3rd nd

Speed Puzzling - 2nd

Trivia - 3 & 4th rd

Bowling - 3rd

Golf - 2nd

Co-ed Table Tennis - 2nd

Great job to all of our City participants this year and we hope you’ll come back and help us do even better next year

First - Eaton - 190 points

Second - CBTX - 100 points

Third - City of Nac - 89

Final standings (Small company)

First - Austin Bank - 31 points

Second - A&P Inflatables - 13 points

Third - Nac County EMS - 11 Points

Community Updates

Contractors have completed all 41 concrete valley gutter installations in the 2025 Curb and Valley Gutter project and are nearing completion of all the curb and valley sections outlined in the project as well

Work continues on the Maroney Park playground that was destroyed by arson in 2023 The project will likely be completed by the end of May and the playground will reopen fully sometime shortly after that

Splashadoches will reopen for the summer with a special event on May 23rd from 11 a.m-1.pm.

New Playground Installed at Robert McCrimmon Park

The newest playground in Nacogdoches is at Robert McCrimmon Park after installation was completed last week. Nacogdoches Parks and Recreation will host an opening celebration at time and date to be announced, however the playground is open to the public in the meantime

Temple Park Spray Station Set to Open Soon for Summer Season

Also making its debut this summer is the newly constructed Temple Park Spray Station on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard This spray station replaced an older structure which had been out of working order for some time and adds another option for Nacogdoches residents to get a reprieve from the summer heat

A grand opening event for the spray station has been planned for May 23 at 3:30 p m Come on out and enjoy this new attraction serving the southeast corner of Nacogdoches

Bulky Trash Drop-off Days Taking Place in May

The City of Nacogdoches, with support by TCEQ and DETCOG, will host a special Bulky Trash Collection Event aimed at helping our residents dispose of large trash items at no cost! We hope this event will help us curb illegal dumping in our City Parks and along roadsides To find out more about these events, please click here

Public Library’s Terry Garcia as she retires this month after 25 years of service to the City. Thank you for everything you’ve done for NPL and the City and we wish you best of luck in your next journey!

Code Enforcement’s Christy Cessna recently celebrated her one year work anniversary with the City of Nacogdoches She also recently completed her TEEX Code Enforcement class (40 hours) and is now licensed with TDLR (Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation) as a Registered Code Enforcement Officer Congratulations Christy!

Nacogdoches Police Department Locates Missing Teen with help from NacWise alert system and local residents

Earlier this month a non-verbal autistic teenager went missing from his home, prompting his family to alert NPD NPD personnel began to search for the boy in the local area and also utilized the NacWise alert system to send an alert out to local residents to keep their eyes open for the boy. A few motivated residents went out to search after receiving the alert and the child was located safe and healthy and was soon reunited with his family by NPD officers We are thankful for the cooperation between our officers and caring citizens to look out for each other
