The newly rebuilt Clarifier #4 at the Wastewater Treatment Plant was started up this week and is being tested If all goes as expected, it will be brought back online in the treatment process next Monday It will operate for a month or so to make sure there are no further issues to address, then Clarifier #3 will be taken offline for its rehabilitation

Congratulations to our Kid Fish Tournament Winners! We had another amazing event this year! Thanks to Texas Parks and Wildlife for stocking the pond with trout, Nacogdoches Bass Club for helping with the weigh in, and the Nacogdoches Fire Department for grilling the sausages It is always great to see so many kids excited to fish! We are looking forward to Kid Fish 2026 on January 24th, 2026 See you all next year!

Community Services Hosts

Four year old chihuahua mix Coco was full of energy and loved his time at the C L Simon Recreation Center last week! Since then, he has been adopted, making Community Services a perfect 6-6 on hosting dogs and then getting them adopted as a result!

The Parks Advocacy League (PAL) presented City Council and staff with a substantial donation of funds they raised throughout this year to improve our city parks

These funds will be used to install several shaded benches and picnic tables at Robert McCrimmon and Ritchie Street Parks

Maroney Park Playground Equipment Set to be Rebuilt

The portion of the Maroney Park playground that was destroyed by a fire (see above photo) over a year ago is set to be rebuilt in the next few months

Construction should begin in March and will likely wrap up in approximately one month’s time

Lecture at Zion Hill: Sam & Anna: A Love Story?

Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc (FoHNI) is excited to host a free public lecture on Thursday, February 20th, at 4:30 PM at the historic Zion Hill Baptist Church

Dr Sosebee, a Professor of History at Stephen F Austin State University and Executive Director of the East Texas Historical Association, is widely respected for his expertise in Texas history

This presentation will explore the relationship between Sam Houston and Anna Raguet, a young woman from Nacogdoches
