Nacogdoches Arts Collaborative will be hosting an ArtFest right next to the Farmer’s Market on Saturday from 9:00 a.m-2:00 p.m. Check out some local art!

SFA will be hosting Family Day events all weekend. For more information, please click here.

SFA Football will be at home against McNeese on Saturday, as the Lumberjacks look to win their third straight game. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium.

Nac Snack Friday returns this week! Join us for lunch on the square from 11am2pm for delicious bites and tunes.

In coordination with SFA Orientation and Family Programs and Main Street, free shuttles will run from the SFA Student Center to the Farmer's Market and Downtown from 9am-2pm on Saturday. Art Fest will also be taking place at Banita Creek Park next to the Farmer's Market from 9am-2pm. Food Trucks will be on the square on Saturday as well!

Brick Street Burger Battle Returns

September 12th

Mark your calendars our annual Brick Street Burger Battle kicks off Friday, September 12th! Two Upcoming Concerts at Zion Hill this October

Zion Hill is excited to host two talented local artists this October.

On Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 PM, we invite you to Dessert & Jazz, an evening of smooth music with Dan McMahon in the historic Zion Hill Church. Guests can enjoy complimentary coffee and a dessert spread while listening to his performance.

On Tuesday, October 21 at 7:00 PM, singer and songwriter Christie Cook will share her original music blended with storytelling for a memorable evening.

Tickets for both concerts are $10, with a discounted rate of $5 for seniors and students. Tickets will be available beginning September 24 through Eventbrite or in person at Zion Hill.

Gospel Concert in Partnership with the African American Heritage Project

Save the date for a special Gospel Concert on Sunday afternoon, November 9, at Zion Hill. We are proud to partner with the African American Heritage Project, who are restoring the historic Clay House next door to Zion Hill. Proceeds from the program will support both the Clay House restoration and the continued preservation of Zion Hill District history. More details will be shared soon, stay tuned! Staff contact:

East Texas Community Health Services and SFA are teaming up to provide a free flu shot drive-thru for everyone in the community! Check out the attached flyer for more details.

Public Works

Public Works crews are currently clearing the brush route in zone 2 and zone 17.

Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.

Brush & Yard Waste Pickup

• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.

o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.

o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.

o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.

o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.

o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste

o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.

o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection. Yard waste must be properly bagged.

o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.

o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:

-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

Engineering

Construction on the 2025 Street Paving Project continued this week with stabilization and repaving of Colston Street. Patching was also completed on Rob Lane, Edgewood Lane, Rosewood Lane, Yolunda Street and Sharon Street. Reconstruction and chemical stabilization on Chaparral Drive and street patching on Timberwood Drive and Redwood Drive will begin next week.

The Planning Department is currently working with an appointed subcommittee, comprised of City Council members, Planning & Zoning Commissioners, and Zoning Board of Adjustment members, to update the city’s current zoning ordinance. Recreation Department

Youth volleyball games begin next Saturday.

Youth basketball registration will end October 12th. Boys and girls ages 5-14 can register to be a part of this winter league. Click here to register. Volunteer coaches needed!

Mill Pond Park is getting a new playground. Another bond funded playground is coming soon to Mill Pond Park. City Council has approved the contract for the new playground. The old playground will be removed in preparation, but rest assured there will be a new playground in it’s place.
