Code Enforcement
Kevin Hammett, Health Inspector for the City of Nacogdoches attended a Northeast Texas Regional Meeting in Tyler, Texas on July 22, 2025. They discussed several new bills that passed State of Texas legislation.
One of these was the HB2844-(House Bill) which includes the Mobile Food Vendors regulations. The amendment will have the Texas Department State Health Services being the sole regulatory authority of the Mobile Food Vendors-target date is July 2026. The law went into effect on September 1, 2025 and will be turned over to the State inspectors in July of 2026. A representative of the Department State Health Services-Stephen Motes-added that the city Inspectors should continue to regulate the mobile vendors until the transition period which will be in July 2026. As we inspect the Mobile Food Vendors locally we have been passing this information on to them to be prepared to make the transition and get familiar with the new House Bill 2844.
If you have any questions about this, please contact Kevin Hammett our City of Nacogdoches Health Inspector.
