Nacogdoches Main Street
The City of Nacogdoches Main Street Program has once again been designated as an Accredited Main Street America program, recognizing its exceptional commitment to preservation-based economic development and community revitalization through the proven Main Street Approach™. This designation, awarded annually to programs that meet rigorous national standards, signals to stakeholders and funders at every level that Nacogdoches is delivering measurable results and meaningful impact. Accredited programs demonstrate excellence in areas such as community engagement, strategic planning, preservation-focused growth, and visible outcomes. Nacogdoches was evaluated by both its local advisory committee and the Texas Main Street Program, which partners with Main Street America to ensure programs meet these high standards.
In 2024, Nacogdoches Main Street celebrated a successful year marked by significant achievements and reinvestment in downtown. The annual Wine Swirl fundraiser raised $30,000, which funded refreshed holiday décor—including a new downtown Christmas tree and a 12-foot lighted angel that quickly became a community favorite. Major preservation and development projects also moved forward, including the purchase and ongoing renovation of the Old Regions Bank Building at 300 E. Main by Elliott Electric Supply, as well as renovations to the historic Hazel Building at 401 E. Main. The program also earned a Texas Downtown President’s Award for Best Renovation, recognizing the transformation of the Old Wettermark Bank Building—now home to Roma’s Italian Kitchen. Main Street Manager Tori Proctor’s appointment to the Texas Downtown Board capped off a year of notable progress. The attached graphic highlights some of the key data Nacogdoches tracks and reports annually to Main Street America, underscoring its role in sustaining a vibrant, resilient downtown for all.
