We want to give a big thank you to Nacogdoches Junior Forum for their grant supporting Nacogdoches Main Street! Nacogdoches Junior Forum has been a great partner for many years! Their volunteers love helping with Nacogdoches Wine Swirl, and this year they will be volunteering at other Nacogdoches Main Street events, as well! Their generous donation will sponsor downtown events like Wine Swirl and the Main Street Christmas Movie Night. Thank you to this hardworking group of ladies who give so much back to our community!

United Way Day of Caring

We were thrilled to welcome volunteers from Etech to the Sterne-Hoya House last Friday as part of the United Way Day of Caring. Their team generously donated their time and energy to clean the house’s siding and paint the back fence efforts that go a long way in preserving the site and ensuring a warm, welcoming experience for our visitors. We’re incredibly grateful to United Way for including us in this meaningful program and to the dedicated Etech staff who made such a positive impact.

Film Producers and the real Bishop WC and First Lady Donna Martin join movie screening at Zion Hill Friday.

Friday’s screening of Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot was a meaningful and memorable evening. Guests enjoyed a free showing of the film, followed by a powerful Q&A with the film’s writers and producers, Joshua and Rebekah Weigel, joined by the real-life Bishop W.C. and First Lady Donna Martin.

Together, they shared insights about the making of the movie, the true story that inspired it, and their ongoing mission to support children in the foster care system.

Library staff members visited Westward Trails Assisted Living Center as part of the TSLAC Armchair Adventures Grant. They took virtual reality headsets designed for use with senior populations. The headsets allow the wearer to visit popular destination sites throughout the world. Participants are seated and can see themselves in the environment they are “visiting.” The purpose is to provide conversation and engagement for seniors. This program is funded (in part) by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and Texas State Library and Archives Commission (Grant # SPP25010) * (2025)

The Bats-a-Billion Discovery Trunk from Texas Wildlife Association has arrived at the library. Families can spend time learning about bats and their importance to the ecosystem. To reserve your time, please visit eventbrite.com
