Outlaws Took the Stage at Zion Hill
On May 23rd, Zion Hill hosted the lively Bonnie & Clyde Musical Comedy, an entertaining production that brought the story of America’s most infamous outlaw duo to life with humor, music, and charm. While the show focused on the broader tale of Bonnie and Clyde, the evening kicked off with a special introduction by Dr. Sosebee, who shared fascinating insights into the local lore and connections to the notorious pair. His talk added a unique, hometown touch to the evening. Visitors enjoyed every moment, from the engaging performance to the rich historical context that set the stage
The Nacogdoches Summer Scavenger Hunt is back and better than ever! This exciting, familyfriendly event invites both visitors and locals to become tourists in their own town. Hosted by the historic and cultural arts sites of Nacogdoches, the scavenger hunt encourages participants to explore 11 unique locations, from the historic Zion Hill Baptist Church to the colorful Cole Art Center
To play, simply pick up a printed scavenger hunt at any participating location, answer the sitespecific questions as you explore, and leave your completed sheet at your final stop. New in 2025 are two prize categories: "Master Explorers" for those who visit all 11 sites, and "History Hunters" for those who make it to at least five. Plus, a new photo contest lets participants upload pictures of their adventures for a chance to win mid-summer prizes. It’s a perfect way to dive into local history, support community sites, and enjoy a little summer adventure!

The Fiber Arts Group will meet this Monday This is a group of various ages who enjoy knitting, embroidery, sewing, cross-stitch and crocheting. Everyone brings a project and members share tips or assistance with one another. The group meets the first Monday of each month at 5:00pm. No registration is necessary.
For people who like to cook or want to learn, the library offers a Cookbook Club on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00pm. Each month the group chooses a cookbook. Participants have the entire month to choose a recipe and then bring it to the following meeting. This month’s selection is Tiny Food Party! Participants 12+ years are welcome to attend. Public Works crews are currently clearing the leaf route in zone 13 and brush in zone 5.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection. Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

Residents visiting City Hall will notice some new artwork adorning the elevators at either end of the building. These newly installed elevator clings help to elevate the space they are in and will help showcase the beauty of Nacogdoches year round!

North Street Sewer Line Rehabilitation
Beginning Monday, June 9, rehabilitation work will begin on the sewer line beneath North Street that runs between Austin Street and Ellington Street. Beginning next week, a contractor will be performing a video survey of the existing sewer line in the street and beginning on June 9 crews will perform pipe bursting during overnight hours and manhole and service reconnections during the day.
This work will take several weeks to complete and will require closure of one of the southbound lanes of North Street during this period. Traffic control devices will be in place for safety and motorists should use caution while driving in this area and expect delays when traveling southbound due to these repairs.
Downtown Brick Street Repairs
Starting next Monday crews will be completing repairs to the brick streets downtown to fix damage from the recent water line breaks.
Residents can expect delays and/or road closures to portions of Main Street & Mound Street intersections to ensure the safety of our crews. Repairs are expected to last through the remainder of the week while these repairs are completed. Motorists may want to seek alternate routes while visiting our downtown area.

The Robert McCrimmon Playground Grand Opening held at 11:00 AM this morning was a wonderful success! We are so grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate the opening of the new playground at Robert McCrimmon Park.
This marks the completion of our first bond-funded project, and we extend a special thank you to Mayor Randy Johnson and Councilman Blane Williams for their attendance and remarks at the event. This project wouldn't have been possible without the support of the Nacogdoches community. Thank you for supporting the bond that made this dream a reality!
Due to traffic issues at the shelter, DeHart Vet Clinic will still be offering services on the first Tuesday of each month, but will be moving to Brookshire Bros on University Dr.
