This week Visit Nacogdoches announced the lineup for the Blueberry Jam Concert on Friday, June 13th before the Blueberry Festival!
Get ready for a night of great music and fun at Festival Park! Local favorite Rack Attack will kick things off at 6:00 PM with their first set, followed by Loose Gravel bringing the best of classic rock, Southern rock, and blues to the stage Headlining the night is Huffie & The Paintfish, two-time "Best of Nac" Musician award winners (2023 & 2024), delivering high-energy Top 40 covers that are guaranteed to get everyone dancing!

Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens featured on Garden Tour this Weekend
The Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens is proud to be featured on the 2025 Garden Capital of Texas Tour of Home Gardens.
Come see the incredible progress made in the historic gardens of this mid-1800s farmstead. Visitors can explore the restored vegetable kitchen garden, sweets garden, fruit orchard, and a flourishing bed of native flowers all brought to life through the dedicated work of our City Gardener and Parks Division.
Tour hours are Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. For tickets and event details, visit the @Garden Capital of Texas Facebook page.
Colonial Dames Historic Marker Dedication Ceremony Tuesday, May 20th
Join us on Monday, May 20th at 10:00 AM at the Durst-Taylor House and Gardens Museum, located at 304 North Street, for a special historical marker dedication presented by the James Haggard Chapter of the National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century. This ceremony will honor the rich heritage of the Durst-Taylor House and its role in Nacogdoches history.

The library staff is excited to announce Bibliocon! Bibliocon will be a celebration of juvenile graphic novels and comic books Graphic novels are books whose storylines are accompanied by comic panels Participants will enjoy crafts, games, trivia and snacks This family friendly event will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 1:00pm. The weekend will kick off with a Bibliocon Movie Night on May 16th at 6:30pm. The featured movie is The Sky Crawlers (rated PG-13). For more information, please call library staff at 936-559-2970.
Staff member Joy Claer represented the public library as a judge in the NISD Science Fair this week that was held at Nacogdoches High School. Young scientists ranged from 1st to 4th graders. This was the first time this event was held and will likely foster a love of science and exploration.
Library staff will host another Bilingual Storytime on Thursday, May 22nd at 5:30pm Participants will hear stories in English and Spanish and sing songs The program is open to everyone and no registration is required

Public Works crews are currently clearing the leaf route in zone 19 and brush in zone 20.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection. Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

Residents visiting City Hall will notice some new artwork adoring the elevators at either end of the building. These newly installed elevator clings help to elevate the space they are in and will help showcase the beauty of Nacogdoches year round!

TxDOT contractors are continuing mill and inlay efforts this week on Main Street This is part of a project which will improve Hwy 21, Hwy 7, Bus 59 (North and South Streets) and Shawnee/Woden Road within the City over the next few months. Traffic should use caution while driving through these areas and follow appropriate signage.
Code Enforcement
The City of Nacogdoches Public Works, Parks and Recreation and Sanitation Departments have collaborated on the hosting of community-focused “Bulk Trash Days” in which residents can sign up to have two large items picked up at their homes or bring them to a drop-off location on the assigned day. This initiative is being made to combat illegal dumping and litter abatement around the city and within public spaces and parks.
Pickup dates are currently scheduled for each Tuesday in May. Residents may register for a pickup or drop-off beginning on April 14 when the registration links will go live. Space is limited to 20 households for curbside pickup and two roll off dumpsters at the Community Drop-off location.
