Preparations for Oak Grove Cemetery Tour coming up on Saturday, April 12 at 10:00am th

This Thursday, our talented team of reenactors completed a run-through of the upcoming Living History Tour

Scripts for each character are thoughtfully written by members of Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. and Historic Sites staff, with careful attention to historical accuracy and the tone of the time period.

These reenactors bring Nacogdoches’ past to life speaking in first person, wearing period clothing, and performing beside the gravestones of the individuals they portray.

The tour takes place this Saturday at Oak Grove Cemetery beginning at 10:00 AM, with groups departing every 20 minutes until 12:40 PM. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased near the front gate; children 10 and under are free

Guests will wait in a designated area until their tour time Each group will be led by a guide who shares information about the cemetery as they walk from stop to stop, where reenactors present moving portrayals of the people buried there.

In addition, Zion Hill Baptist Church will be open for self-guided tours before or after your cemetery tour.

Proceeds from the Living History Tour benefit the ongoing work of Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc. in preserving and sharing our community’s rich history. Staff contact:
