Warrant Forgiveness Program
The Nacogdoches Municipal Court is offering a warrant forgiveness program. Through this program, all warrant fees will be removed when a citizen voluntarily contacts the court to pay a minimum of onehalf the total amount due and start a payment plan for the balance owed. Anyone that chooses to pay their fine and court costs in full will save an additional 20% off the fine amount The court will also offer assistance to individuals that may not be able to pay half down or pay in full to work out an agreeable action plan. This program will be available February through April. Anyone that comes to the court to resolve their outstanding warrants will be given safe harbor.

Gardening Efforts at Historic Sites
Our City Gardener and Parks Department have been doing an outstanding job maintaining the gardens and plant beds at our historic sites
At the Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens, the kitchen garden is currently thriving with a variety of lettuces and herbs, alongside a “sweet garden” featuring sugar cane, watermelon, and strawberries. We’ll be posting updates when any of the crops are ready to harvest so that members of the community can stop by and take some home to enjoy.
At the Sterne-Hoya House, the historic 1920s underground greenhouse is now back in use, serving as a sheltered space for young plants until they’re ready to be placed in the ground.
The library and SFASU’s Student Government Association held a Brains and Board Games event this past Thursday The collaboration is an effort to inform SFA students about the various resources the public library and recreation center have to offer SFA students, faculty and staff are able to use their SFA IDs to borrow physical materials from the library.
The library is collaborating with NISD Bilingual Education and First Baptist Church for the Día del Niño (Children’s Day) celebration on Saturday, April 26th. The event is from 11am to 1:30pm at First Baptist Church located at 411 North Street. This is a celebration of childhood and families. The event will feature games, crafts, snacks, and book giveaways. Everyone is welcome.
The library staff is offering a special class for job hunters, Using ChatGPT for Job Hunting. The class will teach the basics of using ChatGPT to help with resume writing and preparing cover letters The free class is Tuesday, April 29th at 5:30pm The class is free, but registration is requested
Public Works
Public Works crews are currently clearing the leaf route in zone 1 and brush in zone 10.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection. Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

Installation of a new valley gutter to improve drainage is underway on West Gaylon Brooks Street between South Street and Virginia Avenue This stretch of road will be closed to thru traffic while these improvements are underway. Motorists are encouraged to utilize alternate routes where possible.

This initiative is being made to combat illegal dumping and litter abatement around the city and within public spaces and parks.
Pickup dates are currently scheduled for each Tuesday in May. Residents may register for a pickup or drop-off beginning on April 14 when the registration links will go live. Space is limited to 20 households for curbside pickup and two roll off dumpsters at the Community Drop-off location.
Interested residents should visit the link below on April 14th to claim their spot to participate in either a curbside pickup or drop-off at the Community Drop-off location.

This week for Corporate Challenge companies competed in volleyball and men’s video game tournament. Eaton is currently in the lead for the large company division. CBTX is in 2nd place. The City pulled into 3rd place after volleyball, but ETech has pulled back ahead again after the men’s video game challenge by 1 point. For the small company division, Austin Bank is still in the lead after winning the men’s videogame tournament on Wednesday and A&P Inflatables has moved up to 2nd place after their 2nd place win at volleyball. M&S Pharmacy and Animal Science are now tied for 3rd. Next week is the last week of Corporate Challenge. Companies will compete in table tennis, speed puzzling, women’s and coed video games, mud run and washers. Good luck to all the teams! Mark your calendars for some important events:
Summer adult coed softball registration is open now. Last day to register is May 4th. Summer camp registration will begin Thursday, May 1st. Space is limited so register early.

Reconstruction efforts on the part of Maroney Park Playground that was destroyed by arson have begun. Contractors are on site clearing the area and will begin installation in the coming days.
