Nacogdoches Public Library
This week the Nacogdoches Public Library [NPL] Celebrated National Library Week National Library Week this year was from April 6 - April 12 Simply stated, National Library Week is when all libraries help their communities to engage or to reengage the community to their libraries with events, programs, and community service. NPL Staff kept themselves busy by promoting our library services to the community and also by participating in some outreach programs throughout the Nacogdoches Community.
One highlight of the week was an amazing library display, created by Amy Goodwin, Joy Claer, and Terry Garcia. The display helped staff to promote NPL library services and to bring community awareness of how library staff can help patrons find what they are looking for.
Another highlight was a visit by approximately 50 second graders from Garrison Independent School District to our library The kids were kept busy with several activities ,including singing and coloring, by Emily Childress and by a group of teachers and school volunteers that accompanied the second graders
Lastly, Lina Burklin and Danny Gonzalez paid a visit to The Arbor. Staff from NPL took the Virtual Reality Headsets to the residents at the Arbor. NPL staff introduced and helped to train staff at The Arbor on how to use the virtual reality headsets. Residents were then taken on virtual reality tours of kayaking in Alaska; hiking in Canada; swimming with the dolphins; and onto other adventures. Residents and Staff at The Arbor thoroughly enjoyed the presentation. Thank you all.
