In partnership with the Texas Forest Trail Region, we are hosting a hospitality training workshop called the "Texpert Workshop" on Tuesday, March 25th from 10am-4pm. The training is geared toward hospitality employees, students, or anyone interested in receiving their "Texas Friendly" certification The cost is $30, and covers lunch There will also be speakers on marketing best practices, economic development tools, and networking.

Warrant Forgiveness Program
The Nacogdoches Municipal Court is offering a warrant forgiveness program. Through this program, all warrant fees will be removed when a citizen voluntarily contacts the court to pay a minimum of onehalf the total amount due and start a payment plan for the balance owed. Anyone that chooses to pay their fine and court costs in full will save an additional 20% off the fine amount The court will also offer assistance to individuals that may not be able to pay half down or pay in full to work out an agreeable action plan. This program will be available February through April. Anyone that comes to the court to resolve their outstanding warrants will be given safe harbor.

Family Interactive Movie at Zion Hill
On Tuesday, March 11, Nacogdoches Historic Sites hosted Family Interactive Movie Night at Zion Hill Historic Site, featuring a screening of The Princess and the Frog. Families attended for an interactive movie experience, where children engaged with the film through singing, dancing, and prop bags Princess Tiana was portrayed by SFA student Michon Lott, who greeted guests and took photos Events like these help introduce the history of Zion Hill to a new audience, encouraging community engagement and appreciation for this important historic site
Upcoming Musician Open House at Zion Hill – March 18
Next week, Nacogdoches Historic Sites is hosting a Musician Open House at Zion Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 18, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM This free event invites local musicians, singers, and bands from Nacogdoches and Lufkin to explore performance opportunities at this historic venue Guests can tour the space, enjoy live music by Dan McMahan, and connect with staff about future collaborations. Business owners interested in supporting live music are also welcome. Light refreshments will be provided.

Public Works crews are currently clearing brush in zones 2 and 16.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway.
Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection. Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

City of Nacogdoches stormwater drainage contractors will be commencing work on the Ridgebrook Drive Drainage Improvements Project starting next week on Thursday March 20, 2025. Ridgebrook Drive will be closed to through traffic starting Wednesday March 19, 2025 for the duration of the project between Gardenbrook Street and CherryBrook Street while these much needed improvements are completed Please use caution while traveling in this area
Local traffic will be accomodated. We will continue to update our social media pages of any changes in traffic advisory during these improvements.

Teen Break Night, was a success! 25 teens played glow in the dark pickleball, had nerf battles in the Library and played games. We look forward to offering this free event again in the future.
Girls’s youth volleyball teams are still looking for 1 more volunteer coach for our 11-12 age division. Anyone interested in coaching girl’s youth volleyball can contact the Recreation Center.
Registration is open for THINK and PLAY like a Volleyball Champ! Life Coach for Kids and Teens, Michelle Cox, and Volleyball Assistant, Lydia Allen, are teaming up to give volleyball athletes, ages 7-12, top tips on building and maintaining a winner's mindset, while honing in on those volleyball skills! Coach Michelle will guide athletes through three mindset skills: managing stress, bouncing back from failure and losing, and good sportsmanship within a team.
