Municipal Court
Warrant Forgiveness Program
The Nacogdoches Municipal Court is offering a warrant forgiveness program. Through this program, all warrant fees will be removed when a citizen voluntarily contacts the court to pay a minimum of onehalf the total amount due and start a payment plan for the balance owed. Anyone that chooses to pay their fine and court costs in full will save an additional 20% off the fine amount The court will also offer assistance to individuals that may not be able to pay half down or pay in full to work out an agreeable action plan. This program will be available February through April. Anyone that comes to the court to resolve their outstanding warrants will be given safe harbor.

Nac Historic Sites launches “Remember Zion Hill...” Facebook Group
Historic Sites staff have launched the "Remember Zion Hill..." Facebook group as a platform for Zion Hill congregation members and those with history tied to the church and neighborhood to share pictures and memories.
This initiative helps document the church’s rich heritage and provides a space for community members to contribute their personal connections to its history.
Studies show that social media platforms can serve as digital archives, preserving collective memory and strengthening community identity in new ways This project is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure Zion Hill’s history is accessible and remembered for future generations
Living History of Oak Grove Cemetery Tour returns April 12th
On Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10 a.m., visitors are invited to the Living History of Oak Grove Cemetery Tour, presented by Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc and Nacogdoches Historic Sites
Talented reenactors will bring historical figures to life, sharing their stories along guided tours As participants explore the cemetery, they will admire its historic gravestones and rich heritage. Oak Grove Cemetery is a designated Historic Texas Cemetery, home to signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence, Texas Revolution soldiers, and influential East Texans who shaped the region’s history.

Nacogdoches Public Library
Approximately 110 people attended the East Texas Reptile Club’s presentation on Saturday, March 15th. The crowd learned interesting facts about reptiles and even got to see them up close.
Our reference librarian and assistant library manager, Danny Gonzalez provided resume and job application assistance during the Job Fair held by NEDCO and the Workforce Solutions this past Thursday. Danny helped 18 people during the event. This is also Reference Transaction Week, a time that library staff tracks how many reference interactions they have with customers. This information is used to help guide the kinds of services offered by the library and staff needs.
The Book Character March Madness is going well. The book tournament began with 8 children’s book characters facing each other in the first round. The teen and adult book character tournament will begin over the weekend. The purpose of this activity is to capture the excitement of the NCAA March Madness Tournament and get people excited about reading. Come see the book tournament bracket at the library! The library will be hosting Sightseeing from Your Recliner on Saturday, March 22nd from 1-2pm. This will be an opportunity for the public to come learn about the virtual reality headsets that were purchased with funds from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. These headsets can be used in a variety of settings, but are designed to provide a more gentle virtual reality experience. They were designed with senior adults to stimulate memory, encourage mild movement and encourage a shared virtual reality experience. The program is free. Public Works crews are currently clearing brush in zones 5 and 19.
Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.
Brush & Yard Waste Pickup
• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.
o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.
o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.
o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.
o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.
o Limbs should not extend into the roadway.
Bagged yard waste
o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.
o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection. Yard waste must be properly bagged.
o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.
o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:
-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.

As part of the 2025 Curb and Valley Gutter Project, new concrete valley gutters have been installed on Brown Street, Fox Street, Ward Street, Glass Street, Eliza Street, Zula Street, Colston Street and Monk Street this week. Valley gutter installations will begin next week on Yolunda Street, Ila Street, Patton Street, Leak Street, Laurel Lane, Shirley Street, Sunset Avenue, W. Craven Street, W. Gaylon Brooks Street, Harris Street, Burk Street, Lock Street and W Starr Avenue Work is expected to take a couple of days at each location once construction begins Residents should use caution while driving through these areas and thru traffic should plan alternate routes, if possible.
Submissions were received this week for professional engineering qualifications for design of a replacement Belt Press Building at the Wastewater Treatment Plant. These submissions will be evaluated and a consultant will be selected to present to City Council in April for these services
Contractors began mobilization this week for construction on the Ridgebrook Drive Storm Drainage Improvements project which will install approx. 660 linear feet of storm drainage infrastructure between Cherrybrook and the ditch north of Gardenbrook. The road in this section will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the project Local traffic will be accommodated but should use caution when accessing the area
Bids will be received next Thursday, March 27 at 2:00 PM for ARPA Sanitary Sewer Collection System Improvements. Those interested in bidding can download bidding and contract documents at www.civcastusa.com or on the City website at www.nactx.us/bids.
