The 2025 Nine Flags Christmas Parade was a rousing success, with a record crowd that packed downtown Nacogdoches. Thanks to Nacogdoches PD for providing effective traffic flow relief following the parade.

This past weekend, the Nine Flags Christmas Festival brought an estimated 13,000 visitors to Downtown Nacogdoches! Visit Nacogdoches also hosted two Houston-based travel influencers from This World of Adventure, who spent the holiday weekend exploring and showcasing Nacogdoches to their audience, helping highlight our town as a festive, must-visit holiday destination.

Additionally, the CVB held its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, December 12th.

Celebrate the final weekend before Christmas with the Stocking Stuffer Stroll a two-day shopping event filled with holiday deals, festive storefronts, and surprise giveaways

Shoppers will receive a free branded stocking at their first participating stop with purchase, then collect a new treat at each additional store where they make a purchase. It’s the perfect way to finish your gift list, support local, and enjoy the magic of downtown Nacogdoches dressed up for the season.

Loblolly Model Train Display Open

The Loblolly Model Train Display is back at the Nacogdoches Railroad Depot, brought to life each year by George Ellis and J.R. This annual holiday favorite draws hundreds of visitors, and this year’s display has already welcomed some early guests— the Antique Automobile Club of America Louisiana Chapter.

The display opens this Friday and will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. through December 14th. Admission is free and open to all. Young visitors can also enjoy the popular Loblolly Scavenger Hunt as they explore the scenes.

Citizenship Class News! The Citizenship Class will now be offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30pm. Students may attend one or both classes. Classes resume January 5th. No registration is needed.

The library will once again offer a Holiday Gift Wrapping Station. Basic wrapping supplies, donated by community members, will be available at the library. Whether helping to stretch family budgets or helping parents surprise the gifts “from Santa,” the library is here for you! The station will be open December 15December 23 . th rd

The last installment of the Dinner Conversation Series is Your Digital Legacy. This class focuses on protecting your digital accounts and helps you plan, with your family, how to access your information after your death. The free class is December 22 at 5:30pm. Public Works

Public Works crews are currently clearing the leaf route in zone 20 and brush in zone 20.

Citizens can still haul their brush and bagged lawn debris for unlimited free dumps to the City Landfill located at 4602 N.W. Stallings Dr., with their City of Nacogdoches issued water bill and ID/DL showing proof of residence.

Brush & Yard Waste Pickup

• Tree limbs and brush shall be stacked on street right-of-ways, or within 3 to 6 feet of the curb or street.

o Stacks shall not exceed 6'L X 4'W X 4'H and be limited to three piles.

o The maximum diameter of the largest limb shall not exceed 12 inches in diameter.

o Brush must be stacked in front of the residence that generated the brush.

o Brush placed on vacant lots or in the streets will not be picked up.

o Limbs should not extend into the roadway. Bagged yard waste

o Bagged yard waste collection is "ONLY" available for residential addresses.

o Bagged yard waste shall be placed within ten feet of the edge of the roadway for collection. Yard waste must be properly bagged.

o The city will only collect 20 bags per residence per week.

o Bagged Yard Waste may also be disposed of at the City landfill, for no charge, provided that the:

-Resident provide current copy of water bill & drivers license as proof of residence.
