A total of 12 dogs were able to leave the shelter for the day and be taken on trail walks, grab pup cups, and enjoy a ride around town. Friday Update Nacogdoches Historic Sites Nacogdoches Historic Sites has received a grant from the Summerlee Foundation to strengthen interpretation at the Durst-Taylor House, including expanded stories about the Blackburn family and family life in 1840s Nacogdoches. Craig Fuchs, Museum Assistant and Public History graduate student at SFA, planned the improvements and developed the narrative for the grant. The project grew from his research on the Blackburn family for his master’s thesis. Other work across Historic Sites continued this week as staff prepared for a busy fall season. A new accessibility ramp was completed at the Durst-Taylor House, and staff continued developing content for the permanent exhibit at Zion Hill. Historic Sites staff also joined the City Gardener in presenting to the Pines Garden Club, sharing updates on beautification efforts downtown and at the historic sites. Behind the scenes, staff are also working on upcoming programs, events, and seasonal preparations across all four sites.
