We make every effort to conduct the classes we advertise. However, in fairness to our instructors, there is a point when courses must be canceled due to insufficient registration. With that in mind, please do not wait until the last minute to sign up for a class. You could be the one participant needed to meet the required minimum.
The City of Nacogdoches does not provide individual, team, or group accident insurance for participants in Recreation programs. We recommend that you check with your personal agent to assure coverage. Please report any injuries to your program supervisor.
Persons needing to cancel out of a program may apply for a refund at the Recreation Center prior to the starting date of the program. Refunds will not be issued after the first class meeting unless a written statement from a physician is received indicating illness or disability.

Dancers will learn contemporary dance techniques, as well as hip hop combos. Tennis shoes or jazz shoes are required.
Michelle Cox - Mindset Coach will guide basketball athletes through 3 mindset skill segments: managing stress, bouncing back from failure and losing, and developing good sportsmanship. Athletes will also practice drills, compete in challenges and play in scrimmages, led by Nacogdoches Varsity Dragon, Ben Cox.

Mini & Me
Ages: 1-3
Children must be 1-3 years of age. This is an introductory level class designed for young gymnasts who require a parent or guardian to accompany him or her on the floor. Children will work on advancing their motor skills and coordination while being introduced to a variety of gymnastics equipment.
4-5 year olds
Ages: 4-5
Children must be 4-5 years of age and can be without a parent during the class. The primary objectives for this group are: following the teacher’s instruction, taking turns and playing well with others within the gymnastics setting. This class develops the skills featured in the Mini & Me class and introduces more challenging ones.
4-7 year olds
Ages: 4-7
Children will be working on similar skills as they would in the 4-5 year old classes at their skill level. This class is great for siblings wanting to take a class together or students that might need a little more direction.
Tumble 2
Ages: 8-14
Tumble 2 is for older, more experienced children that are not interested in traditional gymnastics classes and have already mastered the skills learned in the Tumble I class. This class will be practicing higher level floor skills and perfecting skills learned in Tumble 1. Athletes will be expected to take direction well and be willing to be challenged.
Beginner
Ages: 4-7
The Beginner class is for younger or inexperienced children that want to learn gymnastics. This class will work on a variety of lower level skills that will include hand eye coordination, hip and back mobility, as well as flexibility and strength.
Beginner- Intermediate
Ages: 8-14
The Beginner-Intermediate class is for older or more experienced children that want to learn gymnastics. This class will be more challenging and will work on higher level skills such as back walkovers, front walkovers, back handsprings and more!
Tumble 1
Ages: 4-7
Costs:
Tumble 1 is for lower level children who are interested in tumbling, but not traditional gymnastics. This class will focus on floor work and lower level tumbling skills. Athletes will be expected to take direction well and be willing to be challenged.
Ninja Class 1
Ages: 4-7
This class is for younger or inexperienced children. It will teach a variety of skills that are related to being a Ninja. Tumbling, stealth, and flexibility all make a great Ninja!
Ninja Class 2
Ages: 8-14
Costs:
This class is for older or more experienced children.They will learn how to perfect and grow their Ninja skills by incorporating the skills learned in Ninja 1 as well as adding more challenging skills!

Tumble Tots

Looking for something to do with your active tot? Want to chat with other parents? Come let your child explore, climb and crawl in a safe environment while getting some time to socialize with other parents. This open gymnastics time is the perfect place to meet other parents and get your little one’s energy out while improving his/her gross motor skills.

Two Fridays a month in the evening, bring your kiddos in to let a little energy out in the gymnastics room. No instruction will be given by staff, but participants are allowed to work on skills during this time. Children under the age of 5 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Cost: $35/month
Learn fundamentals, tricks, salutes, footwork, kicks, dance twirl and novelty twirl routines. Students have the opportunity to perform at local events throughout the year. Students will need a baton that fits the length of their arm. You may order a baton with the instructor. Any student enrolled in a regular twirling class can add on the trick class for an additional class fee. Multiple ages will be included in the Trick Class as it will offer new tricks and support for existing tricks in one, two, and/or three batons based on the individual needs of each student. Private & Semi-private lessons by appointment.

In addition to the physiological benefits, martial arts also increase self-esteem, not to mention the concepts of selfdefense that are acquired. Participants will learn Olympic style Judo/Ju-Jitsu.

This swing dance class is an introduction to the social dance that swept the nation in the 1930’s and is alive and kicking today, focusing mainly on Lindy Hop, Charleston, and East Coast Swing. Come by yourself, with your friends, or with a partner. We will rotate partners during the class. Class takes place for the first 30 minutes, followed by a social dance so you can put what you learned to practice! Wear comfortable shoes and attire. If you have already attended several beginner swing dance classes and are looking to practice what you already know and maybe experiment with some new things, this is the space for you! Beautiful brick depot built in 1911, includes a museum exhibit that fills two large waiting rooms, many original architectural elements, and hosts various events throughout the year.
Educators are welcome to schedule field trips at any of the four Nacogdoches Historic Sites. Recommended group sizes are 30 or less, but larger groups can be split between two or three sites. Tours are free and can be customized to accompany classroom lessons. A craft or activity can be added for children to interact with the history they will learn.

Architectural marvel built in 1914 and designed by famed architect Diedrich Rulfs. The church served as the third home for the Zion Hill Congregation from 1914 to 1987 and served as a cultural hub for the designated Zion Hill Historic District. The building hosts various events throughout the year and can be rented for weddings, bridal showers, and other celebrations.

We are celebrating Christmas in the Victorian era when the Hoya family owned the Stern-Hoya House. The house will be decorated in the Christmas splendor that would have been seen in the late 1800s. Built in 1830, the home has many ties to Nacogdoches’ efforts in the Texas Revolution. The interior includes original architectural elements of an 1800s dogtrot and many artifacts from the Sterne (18301860s) and Hoya (1860s-mid 1900s) family occupations.
