This CD takes us on a journey of some 9,000 kilometers through Russia, from Saint Petersburg to Anadyr. Russian music is rooted in the distant past, with sources in the ancient Slavic religion and its ritual chants. The music of Siberia is essentially vocal, and influenced by shamanism.

Present-day Latin American harps have evolved from the Baroque harps taken there from Spain during the years of conquest and colonization. The best known of them is the Paraguayan harp, but the harp of the llanos grasslands, the Veracruz jarocho harp, and the Andean harp are equally attractive. All four instruments are heard on this CD, which presents a kaleidoscope of Latin American harp music.
