Billie Holiday Live in Cologne 1954 Unreleased, original remastered concert recording! In January 1954, twelve American musicians traveled to Europe under the tour title “Jazz Club USA,” named after Leonard Feather’s radio show.

Having had an encounter with her abusive husband the evening prior, Billie Holiday appeared onstage in Cologne wearing dark sunglasses, and the repertoire included a song written by her entitled “I Love My Man” (a.k.a. “Billie’s Blues”). The singer may have been battered by her disastrous life, but she was nevertheless able to move her audience.

Stan Getz Quartet Live in Dusseldorf 1960 Unreleased, original remastered concert recording! Impresario Norman Granz had moved to Switzerland in 1959. He coordinated his “Jazz at the Philharmonic” tours from there, which at that time were very successful in Europe. At Dusseldorf’s Rheinhalle theater in 1960, Stan Getz took the stage with his own quartet. The playbill announced the saxophonist’s Scandinavian band; however, prior to the tour he had dismissed several of its members and so the cast instead included Ray Brown and Ed Thigpen, two fellow Americans.

The Silent Jazz Ensemble Nightwalker In 1984, Helmut Engel-Musehold founded the Silent Jazz Ensemble with Gebhard Ullmann and Volker Heller; he later became the conductor of the ensemble. FEBRUARY 2015 Teta Blue Tsapiky Teta hails from the village of Ampanihy, right in the center of the Great South region of Madagascar. Born in 1967, he grew up immersed in Taspiky, the traditional local music style.

Teta’s first instrument was the mandolin, but at the age of eight he chose the guitar instead.

He was soon spotted for his talent and nicknamed “the nimble-fingered guitarist.” Indeed, his fingers dance on the neck of his guitar with amazing agility, fetching unexpected harmonic tones and atypical rhythmic patterns. He has regularly been featured alongside artists of various musical backgrounds, and he especially enjoys jaunting into the worlds of blues and jazz music.
