Railway in the Clouds Fifty years ago, a group of young people drove a timber pole into the ice and snow-topped Qinghai, Tibet Plateau, beginning a dream to build a railway on the ridge of the world. But the dream was broken by the harsh natural environment, and a young member of the survey party was left there forever.

Twenty years later, his posthumous son, Yu Mingyuan, came to the plateau with the railway builders to build the railway again. However, when they laid the railway track to the foot of the Kunlun Mountains, they had to give up again as the mountains devoured Yu Mingyuan’s fellow builders, and his first lover.

Twenty-four years later, the middle aged Yu Mingyunan led the railway builders to the plateau again the final decisive battle in the building of the railway. Chu Ranran, an expert in altitude sickness, came with them. The advanced facilities, such as hyperbaric oxygen chambers, ensured the health of the team and promoted the building of the railway. As time passed, to his surprise Yu found that Chu Ranran was in the image of his first lover.
