The NALC is the leading voice for smaller, mid-sized and other life insurance companies that provide financial security to American families through a variety of life insurance, supplemental health, and other specialty financial services products.
The NALC protects its members’ interests through pro-active engagement with state insurance regulators, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL), and other groups.
About Our Leadership
Scott Harrison assumed the role of CEO in 2025, succeeding former South Carolina Governor Jim Hodges, who had managed the organization since 2003.
Harrison is an accomplished attorney and insurance regulatory specialist with more than 30 years’ experience advising insurers on a variety of transactional, risk management, compliance, and regulatory policy issues. He also has significant trade association and coalition management experience, including CEO of the Affordable Life Insurance Alliance.
Harrison’s experience and deep knowledge of the regulatory process strengthens the NALC’s position with regulators at the NAIC, where the NALC is a highly respected voice whose views are sought after by regulators on the most significant issues facing the life insurance industry, including:
