I-Pill (Generic Levonorgestrel Emergency Contraceptive Tablets) © All Contraceptives Uses of I-Pill Emergency Contraceptive Tablets I-Pill (Generic Levonorgestrel 1.5 mg Emergency Contraceptive Tablet), is a progestin-only emergency contraceptive indicated for prevention of pregnancy following unprotected intercourse or a known or suspected contraceptive failure. To obtain optimal efficacy, the tablet should be taken as soon as possible within 72 hours of intercourse. This medication is an emergency contraceptive and should not be used as a regular form of birth control. Using this medication will not stop an existing pregnancy or protect you or your partner against sexually transmitted diseases (such as HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia).

The tablet works better the sooner you take it after having unprotected sex.

This medicine is not recommended for use in children. If you are already using a regular method of contraception such as the contraceptive pill, you can continue to take this at your regular times. If you are sick (vomit) within three hours of taking the tablet, you should take another tablet. You will need to contact your pharmacist, doctor practice nurse or family planning clinic immediately for advice and another tablet.

Recommended Dosage

The dosage of I-Pill Contraceptive tablets (Generic Levonorgestrel Emergency Contraceptive Tablets) is given below:

Take the tablet as soon as possible, preferably within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours (3 days) after you have had unprotected sex. Swallow the tablet whole, with water if necessary. Do not delay taking the tablet.

Contraceptive Tablet ( Levonorgestrel Tablet) is contraindicated for use in the case of known or suspected pregnancy. The World Health Organisation advises that the only absolute contraindications to high dose progestogen-only contraception are unexplained vaginal bleeding, current breast cancer, pregnancy or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the medicine.
