March 2017 the popular basket bash took place , 15 baskets were made by the different classes. 15 Winners received different extravagant baskets with different themes. From a party bonanza to a sports heaven, all of which were amazing and lots of children brought in different items for them. Children spent up to 5 pounds on raffle tickets (which were 20p a ticket) and put them into a pot for a chance to win. Part of our team interviewed James Hare, the lucky winner of the arts and crafts basket AND the party food basket! He put over 30 tickets in the baskets, no wonder he won! He explained that he may donate some of his winnings to charity, and will share some other things with his friends. When he won, he exclaimed that he jumped for joy; he was very surprised with his win. When children brought items in, they would receive a raffle ticket for a special Easter egg. Eva Clayton and Freya Evans won the two Easter eggs, the two girls took their Easter eggs with glee.

He was seen by millions of people across the world on the live ITV show. He won a special chartered flight to Florida where he will be going to Disneyland and many other places for the finale of the show. Our interview team has specially interviewed him about the success. He said that “I went on a honeymoon with my wife 25 years ago to Florida and it was terrible! My wife got a tooth abscess, my hotel room was robbed, and we couldn’t sit next to each other on the airplane!” His wife wrote a letter about the trip. But Mr Sivewright never knew about the winning until they were on the show. Mr Sivewright was seen constantly smiling the following day during his PE lessons.
WHAT IT’S REALLY LIKE TO BE A HEADTEACHER. Mrs Waites is the head teacher of St Johns and she has been for a very long time. Mrs Waites has been head teacher since 2009 so about 8 years. Before she became head teacher she was the deputy head and she spent 2 years in year 3/4 and she spent 4 years in year 5/6, altogether she has been teaching since 1988. Mrs Waites has a very busy job because she has lots of things to do. Sometimes, before she gets to school she has to answer the phone from some of the staff about weather conditions. When she gets to school she has to do assembly and then answer all of her e-mails. For most of her day she is having meetings with different people. “My least favourite part of being the head teacher is excluding people; fortunately I don’t have to do it very often.” Mrs Waites told the newspaper team. Her favourite part of being the head teacher is seeing the children grow up not just academically but personally.
What teachers have to say!
W
e have been inspired to ask our teachers if they find their job: fun, interesting and are having job satisfaction.
Mrs Morrison expresses that she loves her job because working with students that listen to her pick up useful knowledge to use later in life makes her feel incredibly happy. Mrs Clark likes it best when she helps her pupils to do things the never thought they could do however, she says marking out of school hours is a pain. Mrs Reed doesn’t enjoy marking masses of work nevertheless, she loves working and helping children. Miss Bridge loves passing down her knowledge of musical talent, but the paperwork is not her favourite thing to do in free time. Miss Bartley thoroughly enjoys watching her students grow physically and growing in mind strength, like many teacher, marking out of school isn’t enjoyable.
