An Irish Prayer May God give you... For every storm, a rainbow, For every tear, a smile, For every care, a promise, And a blessing in each trial. For every problem life sends, A faithful friend to share, For every sigh, a sweet song, And an answer for each prayer. Amen

Parents as Parents: E-SAFETY E-Safety is in the news at the moment. That is, those activities we take part in on the Internet or by file-sharing. Chat rooms, Facebook, Twitter, the Internet generally and all aspects of electronic communication are vulnerable to abuse by unscrupulous individuals. As a community, we have a responsibility to protect our young people from potential harm and also to help them to be responsible about Internet use. Please remember that mobile ‘phones are now part of this issue, as many are Internet capable and are essentially mobile computers. There is much material on the web that is inappropriate for school and young people. All of us need to be vigilant about what our young people are viewing, storing and sharing on their computers and ‘phones. As a College, we would ask you to continue to monitor what your children are viewing, storing and sharing. In College, ‘phones discovered to have inappropriate material on them will be confiscated, and the student will be banned permanently from bringing the ‘phone to College, as well as the potential for more serious sanctions. Nevertheless, we must celebrate the many positive aspects of electronic communication, such as being able to contact our children easily, and appropriate use will help us all to preserve those benefits.
