Specialism Success Congratulations to Will Pickford in Y12, a Career Ready student who has been successful in gaining a 6 week paid internship with Mill Hill Engineering based in Blackburn. He will be working closely with the company to develop a new website for their heavy engineering plant combining both his skills in Business and ICT developed through two BTEC programmes. The placement is likely to include weekly site visits and working remotely as he is given a free reign to come up with brand new ideas for the website.

Reminder The College is closed for staff training on Friday 29 June.

Parents As Partners: As I am sure you are aware All Hallows Catholic College prides itself on high standards in all areas. Our aim is to help students understand the importance of working hard with the appropriate mind-set and values. One of the areas we feel supports this is the high standard of uniform we expect our students to wear. We believe it is important to dress for success and in so doing we feel students then come to College ready to learn. Recently we have been trying to overcome the fact that a significant minority of girls have been rolling their skirts up. This is not in accordance with our values and we want our girls to respect themselves and their image. On 8 May 2017 all students were informed that if staff reported them three times for their skirt being rolled up they will be required to wear trousers to school for the foreseeable future. We have made it clear that both trousers and skirts are options for girls’ uniform and if a skirt is chosen we expect it to be worn properly. Each time a student is reported a member of staff will have spoken to them to remind them of the consequence of continuing to roll their skirt up. We know how important it is to work together with parents to ensure we meet these standards and ensure our girls are portraying the image and attitude we would want for them.

Principals’ Surgery Parents / Carers are invited to attend a Principals' Surgery to discuss any concerns or ask questions, on the following dates: Wednesday 28 June '17, 9am - 10am Tuesday 11 July '17, 3.30pm - 4.30pm There is no appointment system so please be prepared to wait.

Eternal Rest. It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of a former colleague and teacher Mrs Marie Browning. Marie served All Hallows as the Head of Religious Studies. A Mass will be offered in school for the repose of her soul. Eternal rest, grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Attendance matters at All Hallows 100% attendance competition Students across Years 7 to 10 will be challenged to have 100% attendance over the next 6 weeks as well as receiving no behaviour points. Competitions like this have helped attendance to be raised in the past and the prizes always prove popular amongst students. Students will enter a prize draw for Amazon gift vouchers if they have 100% attendance and no behaviour points for the next 6 weeks up to Monday 17 July. We will have 2 prizes: 1 male student and 1 female student. Both students will win ÂŁ50 worth of Amazon vouchers. Attendance matters at All Hallows and the link between attendance and achievement is well known and shared with our students. The format of the competition this year was agreed by the College Council.
