All Hallows Catholic College Newsletter Christmas Term SPECIALISM SUCCESS

COLLEGE PRAYER Advent Prayer Loving God, through your prophets and holy men and women, you spoke to future generations of our need to prepare our hearts. Bless the holy men and women who are the prophets of our day. As we look to your Son's Second Coming, may we be always aware of your power to shape the future. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Ten Year 12 Business and Economics students enjoyed a 'Capital Experience' this week to mark their formal induction into The Career Academy UK (CAUK) programme. In the morning they were hosted by the global risk management company AON UK. Students had a tour of their current office in Westminster Square and gained an insight into their new office of the future. They also listened to a presentation on possible careers with this company whose entire focus is 'Business to Business' rather than 'Business to Consumer', thus opening up a whole new world that students don't normally see. Over a fantastic buffet lunch the students got to meet some of the high ranking employees in the company who shared stories of their own careers. In the afternoon students attended a formal induction ceremony at The Dominion Theatre, with Action Jackson providing motivational speaking and The Citi Choir and a 'Britain's Got Talent' Dance Team providing uplifting entertainment. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The students can now look forward to working with a 'Business Mentor' and experiencing a 'Six Week Paid Internship' next Summer. One student said "this is a day I will never forget, the whole day was really interesting. The inspirational speaker, Action Jackson, taught us that 'small easy changes make big success' and our visit to AON UK made me realise that there are so many jobs out there that I have never even heard of".

OFSTED VISIT As you will know we were visited by Ofsted inspectors this week. They commented on the large volume of responses from parents to the survey that was issued: thank you to all who participated. The inspectors were really impressed with the welcome they received and the students’ positive attitudes to learning: they thought our students were excellent ambassadors for the College. The inspection report will be issued in a few weeks and we will share the details with you as soon as we are able to.

PARENTS AS PARTNERS Please can parents who park on Bedford Road / Cambridge Road at the end of the day not block any driveways when waiting for their children? Thank you for your support with this matter.
