Parents As Partners: HEALTHY SCHOOLS - STAYING HEALTHY Only plain water in clear plastic bottles is allowed in class.

Fruit juices and squash may be brought into College for drinking before College, at break, lunch or after College. No cans or any kind of carbonated drinks are allowed at any time during the College day or in after-College clubs. These, when found, will be confiscated.

Please can parents be considerate when parking around the local area and College when collecting their children.

Specialism Success This weekend 43 students from All Hallows are going on an educational visit to Normandy. Here they will visit many sites relating to the First and Second World Wars, the Bayeux Tapestry and have the wonderful opportunity of staying with a host family to get a real glimpse into la vie normande. Attendance matters at All Hallows - 100% attendance competition Students across Years 7 to 10 will be challenged to have 100% attendance over the next 6 weeks as well as receiving no behaviour points.

Competitions like this have helped attendance to be raised in the past and the prizes always prove popular amongst students.

Students will enter a prize draw for Amazon gift vouchers if they have 100% attendance and no behaviour points for the next 6 weeks up to Monday 17 July.

We will have 2 prizes: 1 male student and 1 female student. Both students will win ÂŁ50 worth of Amazon vouchers.

Attendance matters at All Hallows and the link between attendance and achievement is well known and shared with our students.

The format of the competition this year was agreed by the College Council.

Attendance Matters Over the last week of College attendance was as follows: Year 7 - 96.9% (down 0.2% on last week) Year 8 - 95.1% (down 0.8%) Year 9 - 94.3% (up 0.7%) Year 10 - 93.9% (down 0.9%) Year 12 - 85.4% (down 10.6% ) This was a disappointing week for College attendance with Year 7 leading the way once again.

Attendance between Year 7 and Year 10 last week was 95.1% (down 0.2% on the previous week, but still 0.5% higher than the same time last year). Since September our overall attendance across Year 7 to Year 11 remains at 95.2%. We aim for 97% attendance.

Last week GIRLS attendance (Years 7-10) was 94.5% (down 0.3%), BOYS attendance (Years 7-10) was 95.6% (down 0.2%). Since the start of September Year 7-11 girls attendance is 94.8% and boys attendance is 95.7%. The gap between girls and boys is now 0.9%.

Please note that from 1 January 2017 the College has a new attendance policy in force. This can be viewed on our website with changes highlighted in yellow.

Being Punctual At All Hallows

Medical Appointments During The College Day Students must sign out at the Attendance Office before leaving College to attend a medical appointment. When they return to College the student must sign back in. This ensures registers will be accurate and we know the student is off site should we have a fire alarm. The Attendance Office is located in an office along the RE corridor. We thank parents for making medical appointments, where possible, that do not take up a whole day of schooling. This often allows a student to have their legal registration mark for both morning and afternoon sessions and so their overall attendance does not fall.

Most students appreciate the importance of being in College on time. Children who are regularly late do miss out on their education and form bad habits that will not be tolerated in the workplace.

We need to inform parents that students must be in the registration form class for the register to be taken at 8.45a.m. This means students should arrive 5-10 minutes earlier in College to be on time.

Any student who arrives after 8.45a.m. will receive an L code. Two L codes within a week will result in a whole college detention to be held each Thursday.

Any student who arrives after 9.05a.m. will receive a U code.

This means they will be classed as absent for the whole morning and this may have consequences for overall attendance.

We are aware that College buses are sometimes late and we can confirm these students are not negatively marked in the register when this happens.

Harriet Goodwin will work with 7Y English classes on Friday 7th July as 7G classes were treated to a visit on World Book Day, earlier this year. Harriet will be talking about her work as a writer and holding a writing workshop as well. Students can buy a signed copy of one of Harriet's four published books on the day by bringing £5 cash.

Congratulations to the Year 7 Quad Kids team who came 4th in the Macc and District Competition.
