SPECIALISM SUCCESS Congratulations to all Y13 BTEC Business Career Ready students who have successfully completed 4-6 week paid internships with a range of local businesses including Astra Zeneca, NHS, Royal Bank of Scotland, Bank of New York Mellon, Peaks and Plains Housing Trust and Chrome Motors. Without exception every student received exceptional feedback. At the end of their internship they delivered formal presentations to Business Managers and Directors for which they all received high praise. Some have been offered further opportunities as a result of their successful experiences and other have decided to adapt or change career routes as a result. Good luck to the Year 12 students enrolling on the programme next week.
FREE PORRIDGE TO STUDENTS From Monday 5 December, the College will be introducing free porridge for any students who wishes to get a filling breakfast before College. Come along to Café Bernard between 8am and 8.40am!

Pray for Openness to the Word of God FAMILY HOLIDAY ASSOCIATION Family Holiday Association – Holiday Grant (UK) If any parents believe they are entitled to the grant below then please speak to your child's Year Learning Leader and an application will be made on your behalf. Statement from the FHA The Family Holiday Association (FHA) has announced that its funding programme open for applications. Through its funding programme families on a low income, that have not been on holiday for the past four years and have at least one child between three and 18 years of age can obtain financial support for a break during 2016 and 2017. The FHA can only accept applications from referring agents (such as a teacher, social worker or health visitor, etc) and not directly from families. The holidays provided in the UK. Holidays breaks include free accommodation, linen rental, entertainment passes and holiday insurance (subject to medical conditions). FHA may also make a contribution towards the family's holiday expenses. To be eligible families must be on a low income (household income must be less than £24,000), not be going on holiday this year and be unlikely to afford a day out.
FREE ADULT LEARNING COURSES In early 2017, and subject to demand, the College will be organising a series of free courses for adults in order to improve their functional skills in both Maths and English. The courses will run in the evenings here at All Hallows Catholic College, beginning in January / February and be for 2 hours, once a week for a period of approximately 6 8 weeks. Thus, the Obote family lost their mother after a long illness…it was such a painful experience for Dad and the two children, Odean and Ida. Thankfully, the Family Holiday Association was able to offer the family a much-needed break, and time to come to terms with their bereavement. PARENTS AS PARTNERS MAKE UP Parents are reminded that the College has a no make up policy. Female students should not be wearing make up or nail varnish during the college day. We welcome the support of all parents in ensuring that this aspect of the College uniform policy is adhered to.
