All Hallows Catholic College Newsletter Michaelmas Term

SPECIALISM SUCCESS This year we are proud to run a French and Spanish Language Immersion Group, where form time is conducted in French by Mrs Ward or Spanish by Mrs Bailey. These are made up of 6th Form language students and MAT students from KS4. This year we also welcome younger students who are lucky enough to be bilingual already! Sharing their skills has raised aspirations, aptitude, and attainment in all students involved.

PARENTS AS PARTNERS

Friday 28 Oct 2016

COLLEGE PRAYER Memories I feel a warmth around me like your presence is so near, And I close my eyes to visualize your face when you were here, I endure the times we spent together and they are locked inside my heart, For as long as I have those memories we will never be apart, Even though we cannot speak anymore my voice is always there, Because every night before I sleep I have you in my prayer. Amen. Prayer focus: Memories

Parents – please can you check your child’s equipment for learning and uniform over half term and replenish any items as necessary. Every student should carry with them every day a pen, pencil, ruler and their planner, in addition to their exercise books and textbooks. A calculator is also required for Mathematics, Bible for RE and dictionaries for languages and English. Students are also expected to have the College bag (see policy) for carrying books and equipment.

REMEMBRANCE SERVICES On Friday November 11th all students will be attending one of three Remembrance Services to mark Armistice Day, to remember all those who have died in pursuit of peace, and all victims of war. Students will be invited to pray for the Fallen, to reflect on the human cost of war, the importance of reconciliation and the need to pray for peace. The Services will express the importance of nurturing peace and harmony through appreciating our common humanity as a gift from God and as children of the same heavenly Father. As the Feast day of All Saints (All Hallows) and the Commemoration of all the Faithful Departed (All Souls) will occur during the half-term break, we shall also recall and give thanks for all those Holy men and women, known and unknown, who have gone on before us. There will be a minute's silence at 11.00 am.
