College Prayer Prayer for the good use of talents
Lord, I ask that you inspire me always to do my best, not comparing myself with others, but only with myself. Lead me, Lord, to discover and use my own talents for the benefit of others and the greater good. May I live such that I help others to experience their own success, as well as praising them for the good use of their abilities. Help me not to judge others or jump to conclusions about them, but lead me instead to respect and accept others for who they are, focussing on the positive rather than the negative. Amen. Parents As Partners Please ensure that students have a re-usable water bottle 700-800ml Reminder that if the temperature drops students will be required to wear jumpers and Blazers. Please ensure students are wearing the rest of their uniform correctly. Sun cream should be worn during this weather. Higher Education Information Evening for Parents Thursday 12th July 6.00 – 7.30pm Year 11 into Sixth Form Induction Day Monday 2 July. Students are not required to wear Business Dress today but should be smart. Lake Garda trip Meeting for all students attending the Lake Garda trip with Performing Arts on Thursday 5th July at 6:30pm. This will be held in the Romero Centre.

Student Reward – Non Uniform Day During the Easter period we asked students to work with their tutor to raise money to help maintain the clinic we built in Tamil Nadu, India 8 years ago. Students came up with a host of fundraising ideas which enabled them to demonstrate our college values in practice. In doing so they raised almost £4,000. To thank them for their efforts the students are invited to take part in our non-uniform day on Wednesday 18th July 2018. Lessons will run as normal throughout the day so it is important that students have their usual school equipment and college bag with them. Students are reminded that our usual high standards are expected on the day, therefore it would not be appropriate to wear make-up, nail polish or jewellery. The efforts of the form which raised the most money in each year group will also be rewarded with a chocolate treat at their upcoming rewards assembly. Celebrations... Formal Examinations Well done to Year 9 on completing their Formal Examinations. Their behaviour and conduct was excellent.
University Education Congratulations to Finola Billings who achieved a First in Creative Writing from Nottingham University. Congratulation to Claire Mckillop achieved a First class honours MPharm, Pharmacy degree at Nottingham University. Following the AS Physics challenge last Year. Year student Stephen Hughes has been invited to a physics masterclass in Oxford this weekend. Congratulations to Cara Feeley who achieved 2:1 in Philosophy Ethics and World Religions from Liverpool Hope University.
Macclesfield District Representatives All Hallows had four Year 7’s representing Macclesfield in the County Athletics competition. Thomas Croker came 5th in the Discus with a mighty 16.7 meter throw. Marco Fregapane came 5th in the 200 meters and 2nd in the 4 x 100-meter relay team. The biggest success came with the girls, where Florence Cook finished 3rd in a brilliant 1500-meter race, with only 1.2 seconds between her and 1st place. Ploy Akkasang finished 3rd in the long jump event, with an immense 3.82 meter jump. Both Florence and Ploy will go on to represent Cheshire Athletics in the next round, competing in the regional event. Congratulations to all four students who represented the school fantastically well! 03

As red as the sun and as deep as the sky.’ Yet the ocean is something Subhi has never seen and the sky only as wide as the he can see. Born in a refugee camp, all Subhi knows of the world is that he's at least 19 fence diamonds high, the nice Jackets never stay long, and at night he dreams that the sea finds its way to his tent, bringing with it unusual treasures. Then, one day it brings him Jimmie. Carrying a notebook that she's unable to read and wearing a sparrow made out of bone around her neck - both talismans of her family's past and the mother she's lost - Jimmie strikes up an unlikely friendship with Subhi beyond the fence. As he reads aloud the tale of how Jimmie's family came to be, both children discover the importance of their own stories in writing their futures.

Book Amnesty
A significant number of books went missing from the library last year, notably from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, numerous Roald Dahl, Tom Gates and David Walliams titles, as well as all of the Geek Girl series. Many of these books were brand new. As I am sure you understand, purchasing and having to replace these items impacts heavily on our budget. Therefore, if you have any library books at home, I would ask kindly that they are returned, no questions asked. All our students can then benefit from an increased choice of books on the shelves. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support in this matter.

Cricket result Year 7/8 v Poynton High School. All Hallows Catholic College lost. All Hallows achieved 70 all out chasing Poynton High School score of 130 all out. Outstanding Performer: Owen Dewar - all round effective leadership and some amazing ‘6’s’ produced! Outstanding Newcomers: Patrick Jones - 20 runs and fantastic batting performance. Kieran Heywood - 1 wicket and impressive bowling performance.
