All Hallows Catholic College Newsletter Whitsun Term College Prayer Prayer for Prayer for the Ascension of the Lord God our Father, make us joyful in the ascension of your Son, Jesus Christ. May we follow him into the new creation, for his ascension is our glory and our hope. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Prayer focus: For the Victims of Terrorism.

Specialism Success A focus of teaching and learning in the Languages curriculum this year has been developing and embedding crosscurricular links and exploiting as many cultural activities as possible. In this vein, French students this week enjoyed a breakfast together during which they practised transactional language with their teacher and had structured conversations based around opinions of food and drink with their peers. A wonderful activity to practise for two parts of their final speaking exam without even realising it! Do you think you could embed cross-curricular and cultural activities into your schemes of work?

Year 13 Leavers' Day This week Year 13 have left to go on study leave. Their time at All Hallows will end with a leavers’ Mass that they have been working on in general RE this term. Year 13 have been a credit to the College, taking a leading role in social enterprise both in and out of college; examples include the visit to the India Clinic, the Staff v Sixth Form football match, the Head Boy running the Liverpool half marathon and Vicky Rogers collecting her Duke of Edinburgh award from Buckingham Palace this week. We wish them every success in their exams and beyond.

Parents As Partners:

Friday 26 May 2017 foreseeable future. We have made it clear that both trousers and skirts are options for girls’ uniform and if a skirt is chosen we expect it to be worn properly. Each time a student is reported a member of staff will have spoken to them to remind them of the consequence of continuing to roll their skirt up. We know how important it is to work together with parents to ensure we meet these standards and ensure our girls are portraying the image and attitude we would want for them.

Parents As Partners Parents who drive their children to school are respectfully reminded to give due consideration not only to students in the area but also to other pedestrians and road users. Whilst the vast majority of journeys occur without incident, we do occasionally get reports that give some cause for concern. We are primarily concerned with health and safety but considerate driving by all of our community will also help in maintaining good relations with our neighbours. Thank you.

Student Success Head Boy Aidan Hughes really has taken on board the mantle of making sure we are able to continue to support the India Project. In addition to the many events Aidan has helped to organise this year as part of the Student Leadership team including the Sixth Form Fancy Dress day, All Hallows' has Talent and the more recent Staff v Students football match, he recently completed the Liverpool Half Marathon. Aidan hopes to raise over £400 when his sponsorship is collected but he admits while that in itself a great achievement, the fact that he beat his dad was secretly what gave him the most pleasure. Congratulations to Vicky Rogers who went to the Palace today to receive the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

As I am sure you are aware All Hallows Catholic College prides itself on high standards in all areas. Our aim is to help students understand the importance of working hard with the appropriate mind-set and values. One of the areas we feel supports this is the high standard of uniform we expect our students to wear. We believe it is important to dress for success and in so doing we feel students then come to College ready to learn. Recently we have been trying to overcome the fact that a significant minority of girls have been rolling their skirts up. This is not in accordance with our values and we want our girls to respect themselves and their image. On 8 May 2017 all students were informed that if staff reported them three times for their skirt being rolled up they will be required to wear trousers to school for the 01
